1. Was there myself and agree he was on fine form that night.

It's hard to pick a best though... there's been so many down the years. Whilst I think his range might be a more limited these days than it was circa Zoo TV and he's undoubtedly not helped himself with the smoking in the 1990's, he's certainly become a much better singer as the years have gone by.

I find it unusual that some have picked Popmart shows, as whilst it was a great tour, his voice was pretty shot throughout that tour... quite raspy sounding at times and unable to hold and sustain notes and reach others, that said still amazing at times - but yeah for me he was definitely struggling on that tour. I think he began to lay off the cheroots after that tour, and his voice started to return to form, and its largely been pretty decent again since.

I think for me I'd probably pick the Zoo TV era which really showcased his amazing range, with full on tenor singing at one end of the spectrum and the fat lady falsetto at the other end of the spectrum, and then perhaps the Vertigo tour with his operatic efforts in MS/SYCMIOYO.
  2. Live Aid 1986 - Bad .
  3. Last 8 songs ZooTV Sydney.
  4. 2010-2015
  5. Sorry, but “lol @ anyone saying anything post-1993”.

There’s not even an argument. I’d say Bono’s vocal peak in pure range and power was the UF era, lovetown era being a close second, and ZooTV was probably his overall best in terms of a combination of range and performance. Listening to him on that tour..it’s like he can do anything he wants vocally, and he sounds in complete control while doing it.
  6. I think it could be argued Bono's best peformance was on Dublin, 1989-12-26. Not only he could sing like a freaking angel at that time, he carried the entire show with charisma and spontaneity. He improvised an entire new verse in One Tree Hill and the song never sounded better, ffs. The band's introductions using local boxers (I presume) during Gloria, etc. Bono had something that went beyond a snippet here and there: a true showmanship where you could feel like nothing he tried could be wrong. No tired and rehearsed speeches (commendable, but still...), no "America is an idea, bla bla bla", no "thanks to celebrity X in the house", etc.

His vocals in 1986 was superior to UF, LT.
ZooTv is a bit overrated, sure the falsetto was amazing but he had trouble hitting notes on some songs.

Also his 360 tour voice was superb.
  8. Haven't listen to this clip for a long time, he was in fire in 360.
The only Ines I miss iin the clip is Bad from Pittsburgh and NYD from Russia.
  9. And this is an advice, if you never listen to this version of WTSHNN. Do it:

Go to 2:20:41 in the clip.

I dont know what flew in Bonos mind, maybe he thought he was on Lovetown or somthig but this is to me togheter with the 1989-12-26 version the best WTSHNN.
  10. What show is the first song from - the break on thru snippet?
