    I gotta wonder if #3 is why they didn't play JT on E+I....almost as if a middle finger to Live Nation? I'd like to think they wouldn't put their fans through hell and all (maybe WGRYWH, Dirty Day et all made up for it), but there must have been a certain amount of freedom in recognizing that they have an obligatory tour ahead of them (JT or E+I) and the band being like "fine, the contract says we have to tour...doesn't say the songs we have to play" so they go out and do the JT thing, and play to the multitudes, and then the do the E+I thing and are like "fine, we're 40+ years old, and we're gonna go out, and you know what, we're play 8 songs from our NEW album, and sorry Live Nation, we're NOT play Streets, we're NOT playing WOWY, and we are NOT playing ISHFWILF!".....you gotta respect that. I didn't see a single E+I show for several reasons, and yeah I miss the days when we'd argue about hearing Red Hill live (honestly didn't blow me away) and I miss the days when Acrobat was that unplayed Gem (seen a few videos, didn't do it justice), but man, I really respect a band at this stage in their career for going out and not playing as single song from their best selling record....who does that?

    Here's the faulty thesis.

    In order to get the kind of capital to put on these large tours, which is needed to obtain the type of income the band desires, you have to be a good investment. A bad investment is a wishy washy band that doesn't tour as planned. U2s contract, with the size, requires them to give a good return in order to get the income.

    It's a business. U2 has one hand on the wheel, but they're not the only ones.

    I honestly think they were just tired of playing JT songs. But I disagree about Acrobat and Red Hill. I think they nailed Acrobat, and although Red Hill was tuned down so Bono could sing it, I had goosebumps finally hearing it be played live.

Acrobat was better than anyone expected it to be and was one of the highlights of the gig 27 years on nobody expected it to be as good as it was watching videos on YouTube doesn't do it justice.JT songs were played to death on the tour last year they needed a break from them the band like a challenge and it would be too easy to add Streets and WOWY to appease the old cynics .
  5. Acrobat certainly was better than expected, but by suddenly becoming a regularity it also lost a bit of it's mythical status...
  6. I understood them dropping JT due to playing the whole album every night on the tour but... they also played Elevation, Vertigo, Beautiful Day, One and Pride every night on that tour but didn't drop those ?
  7. I hope all of these rarities get live releases soon.
  9. Will be really interesting to see what stage and setlist they choose to do.
