1. I'm not sure why anybody disagrees with the notion that U2 did the JT Tour partly (mostly?) to fulfill a contractual obligation, and to generate a certain amount of money, as per LN's terms. When SOE was delayed, somebody probably came up with the JT Tour as a solution.

The financial losses you're indicating aren't suffered by a tour until the date plays. Touring crews are enormous, yes, but often pale in comparison to local crews needed to build a tour in each city. There is literally no expense to canceling that labor, save for maybe doing it day-of-show. They did not have the dates for the E&I dates confirmed (I know this as well) which means they would have no hotel expense, booked crew expense, etc, etc.

They made the decision to tour in 2017, yes, but when the album wasn't ready and they still needed to tour, they had to do something.

This is, quite literally, how it happened. There has been so much discussion and back-and-forth over something that is known. If anyone somehow absolutely needs the concrete proof of this, just PM me.
Well if you had stated in your initial post that you knew because of evidence you had I wouldn’t have carried on the conversation except to ask questions about it. I trust your word on it. I assumed everyone in the discussion was talking based on opinion only. I knew you did work in the industry but didn’t know exactly what you do and didn’t know if you were basing your opinion on assumptions that are normal in the music industry, but I’m thinking u2 aren’t normal because of the size of there brand. However, I do then have a question and that’s all it is I’m interested to know how it works. What is the deal with number of shows? Hypothetically if the dates had worked differently could the band have not played a lot more shows on the I&E tour and E&I tour to fulfill there contract rather than play a whole new tour or does it specifically have to be a different tour?

I want to apologise as well to everyone for arguing the point at such length. I wasn’t trying to annoy anyone I just like hearing he differing views, sometimes I can be convinced my mind can’t be changed and hearing others views can surprise me into changing my mind and it’s through these types of conversation it can happen. It has happened in fact although not through opinions but fact in the end. I’m genuinely surprised that this is how a band as established as u2 work but I also accept it now.
