  2. Curious--what is the general consensus of the different releases? I have my old CD silvers of En El Fin Del Mundo, but would be curious on differences with Chile Pop or Fradoca's remaster.

    I'm just as curious as you are. I am not familiar with the other silver boots of this show, but at least both Fradoca's remaster and the Chile Pop
    still have the NTSC signature hum of 29,97 present (the NTSC "pilot" @15,7kHz was removed in the remaster, but not in the Chile Pop).
    So both are definitely taken from the stereo TV (cable) broadcast.

    Both are pretty loud, but Fradoca's remaster is even louder. I like the sound of Chile Pop better, but that is just a matter of taste.
    The star ratings on the show page / audio tab are merely pragmatically given to feature the Chile Pop on the top of the page...

    As always, I invite everyone to write their review...and it would be great if we can feature more of the silver boots.

    Besides "Chile Pop" (KTS) and "En El Fin Del Mundo" (KOBRA), there are several others:

    An incredible IEM-AUD matrix by @hoserama of 2011-06-18 Anaheim CA - Angels Stadium (2nd night) is now available from the (updated) show page / audio tab

    Yep, that is six thumbs up

    The concert:
    It is days before the famous Glastonbury live broadcast and U2 decided to (slightly) mix up their setlist (Anaheim is always a good place to do so ).
    Like the night before, the show starts by EBTTRT but this night it is followed by The Fly (until then not performed since Hawaii 2006... ), Mysterious Ways and UTEOTW. Then to mark five Achtung Baby songs in a row, One is played early in the set and followed by Where The Streets Have No Name with an Amazing Grace intro... Just stunning and totally fresh
    Then a blistering 360 set rolls into the Angels Stadium (including Zooropa and Scarlet), all leading up to the traditional encore of Ultra Viloet (Light My Way) (AB #6...), WOWY & Moment Of Surrender...

    But, as hoserama recalled to me, that night the news of the death of the legendary E Street saxophone player Clarence Clemons reaches people in audience. Very likely Bono has been informed of the Big Man's passing in the encore break, and Bono takes with him a lyric sheet of Jungleland. Before Moment Of Surrender Bono informs the crowd of Clarence Clemons death and dedicates the song to him. In the aftermath of MOS, parts of Jungleland are being sung and recited. It is very emotional and still brings goosebumps all over my body.

    A truly unique concert, and now, for us U2 fans, with a ditto unique recording too.

    There were plenty of recordings released in the months following this 2011 Anaheim 2, and rather than to discuss them all, @chrisedge has provide us with what can be best described as a "mini documentary..."


    I don't think I would ever be able to say it better...

    Enjoy y'all…this new "Wireless Matrix (2019 ReMix)" is just mandatory…

    The previous mix was already excellent - I wouldn't say there was much room for improvement but I believe you if you say so This one is a must if only for the energy and the setlist variation - you can tell the band is enjoying themselves! And of course the news of the Big Man passing away make it so special...
  6. Very grateful for this recent Anaheim recording, fantastic Setlist and great quality. Nice touch to add in the rotationals from night 1 too.

    Go watch the Youtube video! It compares the different audio sources. I personally believe the 2019 remix is a worthwhile and significant improvement over the past mix, and way ahead of the rest (unless you just have a love for distorted Larry feeds). If I thought it was only a marginal improvement I wouldn't have bothered with releasing, but that's my ears.

    Distorted Larry feeds are my preferred choice of bootlegs. I take them over Neumann KM140's everytime!

  12. UPDATE (vintage audience recordings):

    Today seemed like a good day to share my remaster of the 1982-05-14 - Hattum, The Netherlands soundboard.

    I do believe the source comes from a leaked soundboard, as the concert was recorded by the Dutch public broadcast
    organization Veronica (VOO) for "Countdown Cafe".

    At the time only 7 songs were broadcasted on TV and somewhere in the 90-ies re-broadcasted by the VPRO (again,
    only 7 songs). The complete show circulated, however, as a pretty decent audience recording. And of course, most
    famously, certainly in The Netherlands, is the live version of I Will Follow that was taken from this show and released on 7".

    Some have speculated that this may be from an original broadcast, but that would have left a typical FM-signature in the
    dynamic spectrum, and this not the case. Pimm Jal de la Parra in fact only mentions a TV broadcast (6 songs) and no
    radio broadcast (U2: A Concert Documentary).

    What is also clear from this tape's hiss, hum, noise and drop-outs and/or cuts that this tape was copied a few times before
    the digital transfer was done. This too led me to believe that it is in fact more likely to hold that this is from a leaked board tape,
    rather than from a broadcast. I mean, if there had been a radio broadcast of the full show than it is strange that no other
    recordings have surfaced.

    Anyway, this source that I remastered was transferred in 2012 by @Stadtfelder, but it ran at an incorrect speed.
    Something not only audible, but also measurable by comparing it to the 90-ies re-broadcast. Unfortunately not every
    track has the same speed variation, so I ended up treating every track individually, using some common sense to
    compensate for still existing variations in the audience source. Whenever possible, I matched directly against the
    "VPRO FM re-broadcast."

    Additionally to the speed correction, the hum from the soundboard was removed with iZotope RX05 "De-hum" and
    while at it, I also let the De-click run to diminish louder claps. Some "Spectral Repair" to remove unwanted sounds.
    I did not put much effort in hiding the cuts that are still present. Finally I ran it through Ozone 7 for dynamic EQ-ing,
    limiting and noise treatment.

    It was definitely not an "overnight" project. I worked on this off-and-on during 2018, only to make the final mix early 2019.

    Don't expect a perfect sounding soundboard though...it is still pretty rough. More sounding like that vintage bootleg...
    But apart from a few cuts and hic-ups, it is more or less the complete Hattum 82...
