1. It was a lie then as much as its a lie now
  2. For the record, this thread is now up to page 201.

I laughed my head off when Edge said that. It was a blatant attempt to cover the fact that SOE wasn't up to scratch.
Looking at the SOE we got, how much of it could you say is related to the election? Nearly zero.
  4. Or 161 if you have the post per page set to 15. Just for the record of course.

But you will need that (unreleased) 2016 version to make a fair comparison.

But then again, maybe they only hyped it.

Still think music is much more powerfull when it is not explicitly political. "Sun City" by Artists Against Apartheid being the notable exception...

I think this interview seems to suggest that the band originally wanted to delay the album following the election result to give it a more political feel but then Bono’s health scare had them change direction hence the series of letters to loved ones thing instead.

  8. Longest teaser ever. Or well, Songs of Ascent topic was open quite long
  9. I wonder if they'll give any setlist hints for this tour when the announcement is made. For example, when JT30 was announced they said it would be played in full.

Im sure this has been posted before but the bit where they ask him about a 2019 tour, his answer pretty much backs up this tour announcement 100%. I know it was last year and there were further interviews which gave the opposite impression but it seems like there’s always been a thought about wrapping up this current era of u2 with stadium shows in Australasia.
Yep. In fact, his answer makes me curious as to how different the 2019 shows might be...

    For the lazy:
Will the tour keep going into 2019?
It’s really hard to call that at this moment in time. It’s always nice to have a successful tour and keep it going until you feel like you’ve gotten to everyone that wants to see it. I think nowadays with everything so compartmentalized it feels like we’ve got to get to our people. But I don’t know. It is a short tour. We made that decision because we’ve done a lot of shows over the last four years in total. There are parts of the world we just haven’t been to in the past for years as well. We haven’t been to Australia, Japan, Southeast Asia. We really haven’t spent that long in Europe, so perhaps we’ll lengthen the tour, but in reality maybe we need to find a way of being in bigger places again. If there was a way of taking the essence of this period and being in stadiums, maybe that’s worth thinking about. But I don’t know. I’m just speculating here with you
