  1. Is is good that U2 goes to Australia/New Zealand and Asia, whatever which tour. I hope it will not be a JT + greatest hits, but looking at the past I think it will be.

But I'm wondering if anyone has had a different experience at a U2 stadium show?


    I was GA at JT2017 in Washington, DC. I ended up near the thrust stage. The crowd was fantastic, great energy. One downside is I had some trouble seeing the whole band on the big stage because while it's elevated, someone a couple inches above you can block the band. No problem seeing the screen though,
  3. Thanks for the help guys! Will probably go GA all the way, except if I end up going with my old folks for one of the Perth shows, I doubt they want to stand for hours on end!
  4. I Was at the Dublin show for JT 30 . I bought a GA for GA2 , They had split the pitch in 2 . GA1 at the front and GA2 at the back of the pitch . It was bad and ruined the concert for me .Could not a clear view of both stage and screen .Do yourself a huge favour and if they do the same Down Under , buy GA1
  5. To add some information about Optus Stadium for those who might be tempted to travel to Perth for the concert:

    As someone who has gone to multiple AFL matches at the stadium (sitting in a different location basically every time) I can confirm that the tiered seating is very steep; steeper than any other stadium in Australia that I have gone to. As a result during football matches you basically feel like you are pretty close to the action even when you are very far away in the fifth level. I've heard it is a similar experience for concerts. So if you choose a seat rather than GA you should still feel closer to the action compared to other stadiums in Australia.

    As a general note to anyone coming to Australia for any of the shows - all of the stadiums expected to be used for the tour (except for Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium) are AFL/cricket grounds. This means that they are longer and wider than the stadiums used in Europe/the US that are Soccer/NFL grounds. As a result if you choose seating over GA you will probably feel quite far away compared to other stadiums.

    Optus Stadium is fairly enclosed (no roof though) which means when I've been to a sold out footy match with 60,000 other passionate eagles fans the noise has been absolutely deafening; it really adds to the atmosphere (more than other stadiums I've been to for sporting events.) This might be a good thing for a concert if the crowd is alive for the U2 concert. However overall I've heard mixed results about the acoustics of Optus Stadium during music events.

    Public transport to Optus Stadium is extremely easy to catch from basically anywhere in the city. So if you intend to stay in Perth you don't need to worry about being as close as possible to the stadium, as long as you have public transport nearby you will be fine.

    Hi, I was at both London shows. 1st GA and 2nd at the very back of the stadium on the stands. For me night 2 was a way better experience, but that alsways depends on the people around. I was late on night 1, therfore I was at the back end of GA - sound was aweful, view was ok, people there were drunk :-).
    At night 2 the sound and the view on the screen was great and people were standing and dancing the whole show.
    I usually always go GA but I really liked the show from the stands too. If you are going with your friends I would prefer a good spot on the stands over a bad one in GA.

  11. I mean i haven't been on a plane for a good few years, or left the country, or been that side of the world.... But don't think i can justify ££££ just for U2, although i have family in New Zealand, so could be a good excuse.
