Personally, I don't think it's worth the 50 USD investment for a stadium tour. Tickets are much easier to get for stadiums than arenas (which I also had no problems with in the general sale).
In the unlikely event that you do miss out on high demand tickets (like GA & RZ), there are always ticket drops on the days before the show, when these tickets are released.
I joined u2.com for the presale in Japan, which may be much tougher. Think they have a lottery system for the general GA sales, & possibly GA entry is ranked in the order that tickets were purchased.

I have to admit, I'm not 100% sure about RZ, I've only ever done it once, & it was an auction back then.
I think RZ was quite tough to get for the arena tours, though there was obviously less RZ tickets available then than in a stadium. I suppose if you're willing to pay $500 for a RZ ticket, another $75 for the membership isn't huge. Especially if you're going to multiple shows, as the code can be used for a total of 4 tickets across the tour. Whether that's 1 ticket to 4 shows, 2 tickets to 2 shows, etc. Plus you get the subscriber gift, that looks pretty decent this year (i+e+i live album).
Personally, I wouldn't pay for the membership. But I'd also save money by getting normal GA, the best (standing) seats in the house!
