  3. We’ve just got better taste than everyone else. (I’m joking of course). On a side note it is cool to see a few people when this thread was opened mentioning RHMT and Acrobat and the understandable belief that this was pretty unrealistic. It will be interesting to see what the band possibly could give a live debut to in the future outwith new songs, if they do give a live debut to another song from the past at all.

    It's true.

    On the one hand I'd say Acrobat was a bit of a special case, because it was easily the song with the most outcry from fans. That being said though, it obviously played well live and I'm sure they recognized that - maybe they're now thinking "hmmm, what else might work that we previously thought wouldn't?"

    I think RHMT has actually opened the door to Heartland because it was the vocal that seems like the biggest challenge on both yet Bono made it work for RHMT . I feel like Heartland is the front runner as a never played before song as well since it probably is the one the fans most want now, I can just hear Bono finishing Bullet ‘into the arms, of America’ with the spotlight on him then right into Edge’s chimes, it would be nothing short of magical. Actually not right into edge’s chimes as there’s a few seconds of music before that but y’know what I mean.
  7. Acrobat is...well, Acrobat. Just about every U2 show I've been to, I've seen Acrobat on a sign. Only song from Achtung Baby they never played.

    RHMT only got its fair shake because they were playing the album in full and were obligated to include it.

    I don't think Heartland is even on the table, and furthermore would literally empty the stadium for a piss break. It was hard enough for them to keep a stadium's attention through side 2 of TJT - I can't see them doubling down on that aesthetic and writing Heartland into the set.

    I agree, I think that U2 know better than us when it comes to something falls flat.

    I agree that Heartland probably isn't on the table, but I don't think it'd empty a stadium like you think it would. You throw that song up with some powerful visuals and a strong performance from the band, and it'd be something worth watching - for sure. It's a very emotive song with a classic U2 sound to boot.

    There's no way they would though. Red Hill Mining Town requires a full-voiced chorus from Bono, which he's never necessarily lost the ability to do. The falsetto in the chorus of Heartland would be much more difficult for him I think, not to mention he switches from falsetto to full-voice at the drop of the hat towards the end:

    "In this heart-land, in this heart-land soil"

    Frig I love this song, brb going to listen.

    Controversial opinion: If this song replaced Red Hill Mining Town on Joshua Tree, it'd be a better album.

    Side 2 of TJT was fantastic live One tree hill,Exit,In Gods Country,TTYW ,Mother's all got a huge reaction at the 2 shows I was at .Acrobat needs to be played it was a huge success on the last tour and the Oz fans deserve to hear it after missing out on the last 3 tours .I can definitely see them playing more R&H songs on this tour Angel of Harlem,Desire and All I want is you need to be regulars but who knows for certain what they have planned as I think it will be a lot different to the 2017 tour.

    Any song outwith the big hits has the ability to make people lose interest. It’s just the way it is with a lot of people attending a show but for the minority who know the band’s material inside out it would be a really special moment. I think the band do like to sprinkle these kind of songs amongst the Setlist, Heartland just seems like an extreme case because it hasn’t been done in all they years but I don’t think the reaction it gets would be any better or worse than they usually get for a more obscure song. I do feel like the band have been trying to really make a point of giving these little gifts to the hardcore fans.
