Joshua Tree Tour 2019
Legs (1): New Zealand, Australia and Asia
Shows: 15
  1. Oh, and as much as I love U2 and their music, I think they're the exact opposite of a plug and play band!

Of corse they should, as they get closer to the tour kick off, and the crew too. By the way, you said that U2songs wrote that the band started rehearsing, could you please share the link? My fault I can't find it.
    October 14th.
Some crew have been booked since October 3rd.
  3. Since this show will be at least 90% the same as the 2017 shows, most of the prep work involving cues, visuals and lighting are already done. They just need to remember how to play the songs, brush them up, and work out any new political agendas Bono wants to shoehorn into the songs. They’ll get into the swing of things by the time they get to Japan, maybe.
  4. I was just having a look on u2songs there and unless I’ve missed something it looks like rehearsal news didn’t start for the 2017 tour until about 10 days before the start of the tour. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t private rehearsals going on before then but I don’t think anything specific was reported. Last year though there was news much earlier from rehearsals. I don’t know the significance of any of that but not having rehearsal news for this years tour yet isn’t unusual based on 2017.
  5. They don't need to do much rehearsing they know those songs backwards and having been on the road for the last few years they will get back into it very quickly.

Yes, I know. I said that on the previous page. I was joking.
  7. I feel like there’s been more tour promotion for Queen and Adam Lambert tour that’s happening in Aus feb 2020 than U2s tour in November

Apart from radio ticket giveaways here and there and a few more song rotation of u2s library, it’s been f**k all promotion. I can see this being their last tour down under unless they go on for another 8-10 years
  8. They are probably rehearsing in an industrial area/ rehearsal space in Nice from Monday to Friday and the have the weekend off. There's no use in rehearsing 24/7.
  9. I’ve been following my favorite band since I was a child, and now I’m 49. Looking at the history of the band, I don’t really think it is a “plug in and play band”. Maybe it is the opposite. They have to rehearse even a song like I Will Follow before touring, and they have been playing it since 1979. We know how they are. So I really think that maybe they should rehearse intensively. About this tour, I have said so many times in the past months that in my opinion it was a little bit a non-sense to go there with a two years and a half old show. It was making sense in the 2017, but now? Was it the right choice? If you look at ticket sales, Auckland show 2 is a little disaster, almost unsold. A lot of still unsold seats in Perth and Mumbai too. And we are close to the tour and they haven’t been there for almost 10 years (in Mumbai never). I mean: I’m worried. I’m worried this could be like PopMart leg 1. This is dangerous for a band like u2. Not only because they risk to lose money in a tour which is very expensive because of the distances between shows, but also this could result in a loss of confidence of the band. Confidence to be still relevant or to still be able to attract people.
