I think at this point they're pretty familiar with the song and can play it without having to soundcheck / rehearse first. Bono can snippet anything he wants and improvises and he just nods at the band when he wants them to step in

YES. There is absolutely no excuse for dropping it, unless it's a vocal issue, since Bad is quite a vocally demanding song... But then again so are Pride, WOWY, Vertigo, Angel Of Harlem, I Will Follow and many others.

And they've dropped it down another semitone from usual this year and in 2017 - usually in Ab, now in G so Bono should be hitting it... and has been too so idk...
  4. If it's a battle between I Will Follow or Bad, give me IWF every day of the week. Perhaps being over cautious with the curfew. As Melbourne showed, no reason not to do both. Now I heard them rehearse Out of Control in Auckland. Pretty please. Any show Perth or later will do. Let's go punky for Tokyo!

    IWF over Bad? Seriously??

Bono could easily wing a few snippet lines though, so I doubt it's anything of that nature plus it's already rehearsed and performed on this leg, so it's pretty fresh in their minds too. Pretty sure it's not a rehearsal thing.

It's either a curfew issue or one of the band member's (likely Bono) wasn't feeling on form for it, or they just weren't in the mood for it.

That song takes a lot out of Bono, he probably steps right inside Bad perhaps more than any other in their catalogue and gives it 500% every time - maybe he was feeling out of sorts a bit tonight to commit to it. Might just be that simple. To be honest we've been blessed that they've played it so much in recent years.
  7. I'll fight for I Will Follow together with @Turkued anytime!

(but I admit it's a tough call to make lol)

Actually.. it's the same key (G) as in 2017, just checked it. It's been played in that key since 2015 (and during the few 1998 appearances).

They never played it live in studio tuning (A) anyways, so since 1984 it's just been dropped 1 semitone. Funny detail is that E&I tour started with the Ab key, and dropped to G for the european leg..
  9. I think Bono sang great tonight
