I think giving Eno/Lanois too much input into the songwriting process was a mistake they should be solely used as producers as great as they are fans want to hear U2,.Eno wanted more input on "All that you can't leave behind' and wanted songwriting credits but McGuinness was having none of it he stood firm and said they are hired as producers only ,maybe the band felt an obligation to let them have more of an input interestingly they haven't worked on an album since.
