  3. This is an extreme example I realize, but it's actually fairly common these days for new artists to gain a following BEFORE putting a project (EP, album, etc.) out. I've seen tons of artists get big on Instagram or YouTube with small clips or singles only to EVENTUALLY release their first album. It's way more surefire than putting a shitload of time, money, and effort into an album and then trying to market it, only to realize no one would've ever cared to begin with.

    But yeah, this is an extreme example as most of the artists I'm referring to haven't opened for High Flying Birds and/or have an RSD release lol.

    It does seem to be a trend for the developing artist to drop a slew of singles to build up to the record... if executed properly, it's actually a good developmental marketing tool. if people know 4-5 songs when the album drops, they are more prone to buying it (i would be anyway)

    i noticed from photos of the rsd releases they are signed to polydor - not too shabby for them. they know what they're doing.

  8. I can second that. Saw them in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago and it was a young crowd. Good to see. I wish them all the best!
