1. It was raining on the night. Edge's synth has cut out before in the rain during Bad. Who knows though
  2. Just rewatched the "Making of..." special feature on the Boston DVD, and there's definitely a keyboard under the stage,,,

I made a conscious effort for this week's show to think of my review as a guide for someone just getting into U2 bootlegs. Would this be an absolute, must have show, like RDS 93 or Red Rocks? No. Would I consider it to be a slightly-less-than-perfect show, like Popmart Leeds or 2nd night in NYC Post-9/11? No.

I'll concede that I shortchanged them a half star on both sound and performance, but even then, it's still a 7/10 in my book.

they did play New Year's Day during one of the nights filming. Is it Edge's keyboard? Dallas might use a keyboard to help with tuning aswell.

I don't think it's Edge's. On the special features, they show the construction of the stage and the keyboard is up on stage as they're putting it together. I can't imagine that they'd run out halfway through the show to take it down. To me, the logical explanation is that someone is playing or at least initiating MIDI tracks....

It is possible. How many U2 tracks are truly live? Not a lot. Nearly everything has some backing track or loop.

I wonder who played the Piano keys during Walk On??

Exactly. I bet it was that person under the stage. What a job, huh?

I always thought it was just a backing track, like the ones they use on the album and single versions, played through the PA...

The problem with that is that when Bono goes on his long rambles. I don't think he can talk about dropping the debt at the beginning of One and count measures in his head at the same time....
  10. Have a look at Desire from Rotterdam 1990-01-06. There's an extra drummer sitting in behind Adam's Bass stack.
