  1. The great quality piece I would dispute. The unmixed dual mono does not make a very pleasing listen to me.

    Of course I should just release a fully mixed version of it. Maybe a two weeks at BC eventually.

    Edit: I just happened to have my version of 5/3/2017 dress rehearsal in mp3 on my google drive. Go nuts. I'd argue a much higher sound quality (just compared to Nuno's A Sort of Homecoming opener). I will probably eventually release in flac at some point down the road, but would want to tweak the mix some more:

    yes, you would dispute, because you're not in that 99% group I do understand that, you got a complete different frame of reference.. but I think you can also understand that Manolito was not looking for that answer at all. It was just a stab at Nuno. A rehearsal in this kind of quality is just a very welcome surprise for most of us, even if it's not perfectly. It's clean and it gives a nice insight in the build up to the JT tour. Well, if you guys keep releasing these rehearsals at this speed and quality we all might get a different view on rehearsals, but I think from what's out there (minus your recordings) Nuno's are still among the best quality (better than any rehearsal pre Innocence). But yeah, yours are better.

    You're right, I was probably being a bit brash. I do think that Nuno's 5/3/2017 release isn't all that good...in large part because of the missed opportunity. It's the drum tech mix plus edge in a dual mono format, which is not really that enjoyable of a listen. Where I find it most disappointing is that with just a smidge of spit and polish, such as just adjusting for the latency difference between the feeds and some basic mixing, it could really be a lot better. While Nuno's releases have these issues in spades, I'll say that for other releases too. Some folks respond well to talking shop and how to make things better--@BigGirl and I butted heads a couple years ago over this, but now we frequently email each other back and forth to talk shop. As you can guess though, Nuno isn't as receptive.

    In regards to the latest little spat, it seems to have started with my latest round of Vancouver rehearsals. Several random comments back and forth on my torrents on U2Torrents, and then he appeared to have released the 5/3/2017 as a response (I guess?). I just find it a little silly that about 2 years ago, he was slagging on U2T and trying to do "U2Start exclusives", and now he's trying to do the same on other sites to punish U2start (at least that's my interpretation--he may disagree).

    So while I may throw some sass about the perceived lack of quality, or at least missed opportunities, I figured I'd at least patch the hole for the U2start folks. Happened to have all of my 2017 mixed rehearsals in mp3 on google drive, so was pretty easy to upload.

    Probably airing more dirty laundry than intended--we can pick this up on PM if you want.

    I'll also add that sometimes things CAN come together in a constructive way. The Vancouver 2 multicam that Remy is broadcasting later tonight has video from several folks (including Nuno!) and my audio. So even when there's the occasional spat and sassiness, some good stuff can still come out.

    Yeah, I agree. I really enjoy "talkin' shop" now and then

    And it's true, opening your mind for other people's ideas can give life to a million new possibilities. But back then I also had the time to invest in learning new skills (and programs). I think that is a sort of precondition for improvement (= training + practicing...and being allowed to make mistakes... ). But the investment did pay off.

    Anyway, tonight (CET) it's a little bit of fan art to go with the "Joshua Tree 2017 Vancouver May 3 Evening Dress Rehearsal"

  12. Hi - i see so many amazing updates and concerts on here. I am obviously being very dumb and need some help please. I download the audio files to my MacBook but don't seem to have the right app to play them.

    can someone please recommend one that i use or provide any guidance?
