  2. Pink Pop Festival, Netherlands 1981... since this was the bootleg cassette that really got me into U2 (purchased in 1983 Camden Lock Market probably!). Great crowd response even although they were way down the bill, they had avid fans down the front.

    It stands the test of time..but I should re-visit some of the others.

  4. The Red Rocks version is played at 150bpm according to software I use. It reads Irving Plaza as 130bpm. So here is Irving Plaza speed up by 10bpm's. I didn't want it to sound too rushed. Enjoy

    Not great TBH Bono seems unsure of the words and where he needs to come in and he doesn't deliver it with the passion and force that makes it such a great song the band sound great but its like he missed the rehearsal,I'm sure had they not shelved this song for so long he would have nailed it.

    Slower version like Irving Plaze but still so good.

    Have to disagree, bono does flub a couple of lyrics but I think he puts plenty into it and the edge solo at the end makes for a great performance of the song.

    U2 need to play a song 3 or 4 times live before they nail it especially a song they hadn't played in over a decade,Bono tries but he sounds like he is uncertain of the lyrics however it was great to hear them play it.
  11. The best version of 11 O'Clock has to be found in the 1980-1985 era. Compared to this, the sparse live versions they did in 87, 2001 and after that feel very slow and not as exciting, even if some of them are quite good (Arhnhem 2001 is really good!).
    The version at the Marquee from 1980 that was included in the subscription gift years ago is really really good, because Bono still has a kid's voice and fits the song.
    I guess it depends on your taste, as the song changed from the Boy tour to the October Tour and then changed again with Drowning Man snippets in the War Tour. Two performances that come to mind are 1981-11-14 Boston and for a different flavor, I also listen to 1984-11-07, where Bono wins over the crowd with the first chords of the song.
    But really, can't go wrong with any performance from the 1980-1985 era.
