I think they were finished anyway. Having a child, losing your dad, these are just things that happen in life. With four band members there's always something going on. Edge lost his parents, Larry lost his dad, Adam became a father.. I think what happened with Sian was the only thing that really had a big influence on their schedule. And as Bono always mentioned at their concerts, they put their 3rd leg tickets on sale after September 11.

The key word in my spiel was "perspective" - I think that sort of summed it up.

From U2 by U2 it said ES and THTBA. Presumably the re-worked Pop tracks too.
  3. Now is the time, Covid19, to do another 2002 year. Clean up, retrospective before something fresh.
  4. maybe the perspective changed, maybe not.. were there any rumours pré September 11? if not than all the things you named were already factored in with thinking about taking the tour to 2002.. I remember there were some rumours about Australia as well and that the (Austalian) dollar rate was a huge obstruction..
also I remember the Superbowl and some of Bono's comments on that fueled the rumours of a stadium tour in 2002. But in the end I think the tour just finished as it was planned and all those rumours were just rumours.
  5. I doubt anything concrete was in place other than specualtion after Slane on September 1.
  6. One thing l have learned into my 40's is that intention and execution are two different things.

I think you're misinterpreting what I'm saying, but okay.
  8. This is interesting because a lot of what they were feeling and going through at the time had to deal with turning forty.
  9. I’m only 5 years younger than Bono and that proximity in age is what makes most U2 records resonate with me, particularly this last one. At the time ATYCLB was released Kite hit a nerve with me because I was starting to approach 40 and watching my kids becoming independent; knowing that something was about to give and they wouldn’t need me any more. I hope the next album provides some wisdom or insight on turning 60.
  10. Any further news on this? Only 2 months until the anniversary
