EDIT: although it is a 6 string. Did he play a 12 Rickenbacker during R&H?

All of the Rics that Edge has been using are 12 strings.

Although he did buy a few 6-string Rics in Chicago last year.

But what about Gone and Angel of Harlem? And Sometimes...they are not 12 strings.

Even in Sun Studios on R&H? Looks like a 6 string to me, but I don't know nearly as much about his gear as you do, and I'm looking at some grainy youtube clip.

It wasn't 'cream' to start with. Many topcoats on guitar finishes yellow or change colour over time. White often turns to cream/yellow-ish. Fender Lake Placid Blue can turn a bit more greenish...

Edge's two LP Customs started off white. I've seen pictures of The Edge and the auctioned 1975 LP Custom from around 1982-ish. Overtime, like many white finished, it yellowed. To answer your questions, he got it around 1982.

Cheers - yeah, I'm aware the colour changes etc. but I just wondered about the guitar in general and people usually say "the cream LP" so I figured it would be easier for reference

I agree. And most call it cream. I wasn't trying to be a pain or a 'stickler' for details. Sorry.

Edge's white/cream LP Customs are pretty great. SOrry that he let the one go but he's others plus the Gold Top Standard and the SG (and their respective backups)

Wouldn't be surprised to see/hear The Edge using the SG a bit more and as he's bought some vintage 6 string Rics...

Ha, no worries, we all have our perdantic moments

Which one did he use for Mofo and I Will Follow on PopMart?

MOFO and I WILL FOLLOW (PopMart) were played on the the auctioned 1975 Gibson Les Paul Custom.

And the term is pedantic not perdantic. (ducks) Just showing how pedantic (and bored at work) I can be. [totally messing with you... forgive me?]

Aha, what a typo! Seriously, talk about being hoisted on one's own pétard!

Back to guitars though, would I be right in thinking that it was given a different paintjob or something for the tour?

EDIT - you were saying about expecting to see him use the SG a lot more - I hope not, personally (on a purely aesthetic level, that said!). It just doesn't look like an "Edge guitar" if you get me - I mean, I think Edge, I think Strat, the LP, Explorer or Rick. But not SG....I just think it doesn't look as good aswell...

Nope. It was not painted different. What seems different to you about that guitar? (The cream 1975 Les Paul Custom)

Ric 12's have the tuning pegs that face forward and one's that face backwards. So from a front view of the headstock, it might appear to be a 6 but it is a 12.

    Example:

    Very interesting. Thanks!
