I've met Dallas a number of times over the years, starting around the ZOO tours.
During the Elevation tour, I made some shirts that said: SCHOO 2. Dallas saw me wearing mine at the Oakland show and handed me one of The Edge's guitar picks.
A few days later in Los Angeles, I gave (1) to Dallas and (1) to The Edge. The crew must have seen the shirts because someone took the idea a little farther and made "SCHOO 2: Close To The Edge" shirt for all of the crew for closing night of Elevation in Miami. SOMEWHERE I've a picture of one of the crew wearing one... I'll have to search my computer.
I'd often see Dallas around 3pm when he'd finished his setup or at times after shows. Always one for a smile and a kind word. And always willing to answer basic questions. By that meaning he's not at liberty to tell you the exact effects chain and settings for a song but if you've a question about a guitar or piece of gear he's always been kind enough to answer.
During the Vertigo shows, I had GA tickets for most of the shows that I attended. The two spring `05 LA shows being the only one's that I had seats.
At LA # 1, I was sitting in my seat with my SCHOO 2 shirt on. While most were starting to enter the arena, WHO crossed over the bar at the bottom of the seats and starts walking up my aisle but Dallas Schoo! He looked over and saw my shirt and let out a big "Hey buddy" and shook my hand. We talked for a few mins and then he had to go to the doors to get someone in. So I'm sitting there and 5 mins later... a tap on my shoulder... It's Dallas again! This time with his wife and some friends. He'd stopped to introduce them to me! Another show of what a nice guy and class act that Dallas Schoo truly is. We talked for a few mins and then he had to get back to work... he handed me a few picks and off he went.
no business like Schoo business! When I saw them in Atlanta and Charlotte on the Vertigo tour, when the Dallas made his walk around the ramp we all started shouting his name as he walked by, it was more intense in Atlanta but he was very gracious threw a few picks out, waved, he seems a bit shy but really seems like a genuinely nice guy which you have just attested to!
