  1. Can anyone help please with the folowing query?

    When playing back concerts on my ipod I seem to get a small gap between songs, however I have ticked gapless album box. Any suggestions to get rid of these annoying gaps in between songs?

    I've found the only way to get rid of them is to edit each individual file in a program like audacity....which is a huge pain in the ass if you've got a lot of songs to change.

    i'm finding that all of the gis im redoing from lossless are coming out gapless
  5. G'day WIRE! Your best bet is to grab a program for Windows called mp3directcut.

    It's not just for iPod that you can get gaps, it can be for all players like Zen, Zune, Sansa etc. The whole thing is MP3s introduce a one or two-second gap which is how the specification works. You can get full gapless from MP3 if you work on it but FLAC, SHN, AALC etc are those lossless formats that don't natively have gaps. MP3, WMA etc are examples of lossy, meaning they lose quality and the gapless effects.

    iTunes only really deals with gapless from iTunes Store. Not what you download or convert from other sites, unfortunately. Apple also doesn't intend for casual listeners (of whom the iPod is targeted to) to listen to live audience recordings either.

    Lossless always will come out gapless - and the one reason why it's a better live format.

    no I mean when I convert lossless to mp3 the resulting mp3 tracks play gapless

    Yeah they will. If the original is lossless then it should carry over. As has happened with a lot of my FLAC > MP3 conversions.
