  2. As when I introduced a friend to U2, you know what her favourite song out of all the albums was?

The Saints are Coming. Yep, she had a choice from Pop, Boy, October, Unforgettable Fire, Zooropa ...but she choose that over all 250 songs. However, I was talking to another friend the other day and her first U2 song ever was Things To Make And Do on a record.

    How's that?

Ha! The Saints Are Coming; Horrible song IMO (I'm not very keen on Greenday)

If I would make a U2-cd who can make people fan, it would look like this:
    1. Where The Streets Have No Name
    2. Elevation
    3. WOWY
    4. BTBS (Yes, it's a classic)
    5. One
    6. BD
    7. New Year's Day
    8. Vertigo
    9. Pride
    10. EBTTRT (loved it when I heard it for the first time, not any more )
    11. COBL
    12. SATS
    13. Mysterious Ways
    14. Stay
    15. UTEOTW
    16. All I Want Is You

I think I can turn every 50Cent-fan into a Rock And Roll-lover with this CD...
  4. i think i'd go for the best of 1980 - 1990

    it got me hooked

  5. Greenday is good, but they sold out way to much. back on topic, although I had 80-90 since the 5th grade, I didn't really get hooked till I got The Joshua Tree. I listened to it start to finish easily 10 times the first night I had it.
  6. I would go with Joshua Tree AND Achtung Baby. Which one is better is debatable, but they are both as essential as it gets.
  7. Also, does The Complete U2 count as an album?
  8. Depends on your goals and how interested they are.

IF they show interest in ANY U2 song / album in the first place, celebrate that NO MATTER HOW much it may sicken you (e.g., even if it's only one song like Vertigo or SBS). DON'T EVER try to "one-up" them (oh that song is garbage, you have to like this because all my U2 friends say so) or judge them for it or you will kill their interest and you'll make them angry.

IF they seem interested in REALLY getting to know U2, select excerpts Rattle And Hum movie are my bread and butter: Streets, Exit, Pride, In God's Country, WOWY, etc. Keep the dosages small.
  9. I've changed my opinion. Let them listen to Passengers and don't share your love of U2. Be selfish

Yup. Tell them to start with 60 Seconds in Kingdom Come and Beautiful Ghost. And J. Swallow if they really want a treat.
