Love Is All We Have Left

The start of the show. The sounds of a MRI scan. The images of an MRI scan. The screen splitting in two. Bono coming out to sing along to a pre-recorded version of Love Is All We Have Left. Captured here in Philadelphia by Wells Fargo Center.

The Blackout

The screen goes up, Bono disappears in it to join his bandmates for a very loud rendition of The Blackout from inside the screen. At the end of the song the band members come all out again to ask us: is this an extinction event we see? Photo by Rich Fury taken in Inglewood/Los Angeles.

Lights of Home

All but Bono move to the main stage while Bono under the screen to perform Lights of Home. The ground he walks upon is tilting either up or down for him to slowly make way to the e-stage to emphasize that you can free yourself to be yourself. Photo taken by Danny North in Tulsa.

The lights of a city

At the end of Lights of Home, the screen shows a bright image of the city U2 would play in darkness, with just the lights visible. A strong connection with one of the big themes of Songs of Experience: light. Photo taken by Cind75 in Nashville.

I Will Follow

From Experience all the way back to where it started for the band with I Will Follow. One song almost no fan can ever get enough of. Jump, jump! Photo taken by Remy in San Jose.

Gloria / All Because Of You

Continuing the theme of where it all started with powerful songs like Gloria or All Because Of You, switched in some cities with Red Flag Day. No time for rest, especially not for Larry, who wears glasses during shows for the first time. Captured by Rich Fury in Inglewood/Los Angeles.

Beautiful Day

It wouldn't be a U2 show after the year 2000 if Beautiful Day didn't make an appearance. The first real big hit to be played on this show. Photo by Phillip Lebowitz taken in New York.

Iris (Hold Me Close)

A reworked version of Iris (Hold Me Close) to start the 'Innocence set' of the show, as it was played in 2015 as well. The lines referring to 'free yourself' have been cut from this version to not duplicate on what Bono already told us at the end of Lights of Home. Captured by thatotherplace in Nashville.

Cedarwood Road

The second song of the Innocence set, a fan favourite from 2015: Cedarwood Road. A song that has everything: the visuals on the screen, Bono walking in the screen, Edge walking under the screen while the North and South side watch. Photo captured by Remy in San Jose.

Sunday Bloody Sunday

After having opened in full band all 2017 shows the song returned in its stripped-down version back to the shows in 2018, with the colours of the Irish flag projected onto the catwalk. Photo taken by Kéké in New York.

Until The End Of The World

The last song to be played before the Intermission break is another familiar one: Until The End Of The World. Complete with the 'water spitting act' between Bono and Edge. This live song just has it all when it comes to what U2 is capable of. Photo taken by Remy in Tulsa.

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

Struggling to survive, all seems hopeless. This is how the comic strip part of the show starts during the intermission, while a cover of Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me by Gavin Friday is played over the PA. Some reading entertainment in between the two sets. Photo by Carol Spagnuola captured in Atlanta.
