    kinda wish granted, right?

In the first half there's only 1 spot (OOC/TEC/CAL), but in the second half:

2 rotational songs between MW and EBW (Des+TST/AOH+WLCTT/Ele+SIAM/Vol+OL)

1 rotational song between BD and WOWY (Troubles/Bad/AIWIY)

    1 spot before Streets (COBL/MD)

1 spot to close the show (ISHF/One/40)

That's 6 total. I wouldn't discount MD yet, we even got the Troubles back. But even then that's 5, not 4... I think it's a fair number.
I don't want to argue but this setlist variation is minimal to non existent. Especially for a 5 show residency. They're rotating the same songs in the same spots. Nothing adventurous at all. Glad u enjoy the mixing up of the sets but to me it's nowhere near enough to justify going to more than 2 shows on this leg. We know the tour will morph over time. But not at the moment.
  3. Thank god...someone is still complaing!
I really didn't know what to say anymore...
Thought about giving the complainers a kind of apology.
Because, honestly, this last LA show is just too good for me...
Seriously, I would have been so much better starting out with
    a higher set of expectations...

(I'm telling you guys, this is my kind of tour - and it's only just begun )

Can I not think the setlist variation sucks? Can I not feeli like I got bait and switched? All the talk leading up was about a diff show every night. I'll only post positive band praising from now on. Sorry.

What? I actually thanked you for your complaint, and this is not good? Would be so boring if nobody disagrees anymore. Please stick around. There is no sweet without the sour

First you said there were only 4 spots for rotation, which is not true.

Then you said that 6 to 8 would be ok, right now there's up to 6 spots, but now you're saying that that's "minimal to nonexistent".

Then you said that that's not enough to go to more than 2 shows... so 2 shows would be ok, but not more than that... but nobody mentioned anything about rotation for more than 2 shows, they never mentioned 3 or 4 or 5...

Then you go for the bait and switch and the inexistent promise of a different show every night, when at best they promised a different feel (whatever you think that means) every PAIR of shows... that's 2 shows, not 5, not every night. Even now that they changed that, they're still bringing 6 songs in rotation between the 2 of them.

Rotating 6 songs from one show to the next is fairly good... I agree that you wished that they were more, but -regardless that you're contradicting yourself- I don't see anything wrong with what they're currently doing
  7. I think Nick has every right to complain. Give the pre-tour hype about different shows (the basis on which many of us bought tickets) it's been very disappointing. I could perhaps forgive the band for abandoning the idea after the injury and/or realising that some shows may not please everybody in attendance. But even the later idea of a fixed first half followed by a varying second half has yet to be seen. 18 fixed songs every single night out of a 23 song setlist is hardly variation. Even the songs that do get switched are predictable. I suppose the only positive so far is that in the very few spots that are rotational, we're now starting to get a few more songs to be rotated.

Apparently it was Sil who had a word with Bono and told him to play something new. Hopefully he and the band realise that they've fallen far too short of what we expect.

For a U2 tour is doesn't suck, but I agree with you. Without all the talk about ''two different nights'' there wouldn't have been this kind of expactations and we would be happier with the rotations that are happening now. I think almost everyone here wants to hear some more unheard, unexpected songs but this is U2, so that most likely isn't gonna happen.

My complain is more the kind of songs they are rotating. Stuck, Elevation, Angel Of Harlem and Desire we all heard soooo much and personally I don't really care about Ordinary Love and Sweetest Thing, When Love Comes To Town is cool they played that one again. I feel they are kinda torn what to do with those two spots, it looks kinda forced (on youtube ofcourse)

And indeed the point Tim makes is also true, there are 18 fixed songs, thats a lot.
  9. do other major acts rotate more songs, though? honestly wondering, I don't follow any other band's setlists.
  10. Springsteen, Pearl Jam do, but every band is different.
  11. The examples that are always used in this kind of discussions are Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen. Who rotate like crazy, especially Pearl Jam.
