Thank you. That was my only gripe! I've been a U2 fan fir over 20 years. I know they don't rotate sets at all. But all the talk before I bought tickets was about different sets every night. Now it's different. All I was saying is that I felt a little bait and switched. I don't need everyone throwing stats at me like I don't know.

What? I actually thanked you for your complaint, and this is not good? Would be so boring if nobody disagrees anymore. Please stick around. There is no sweet without the sour

Haha. I'm sorry. I thought you were being sarcastic! I guess I was being a bit too defensive.

as great as she was broadcasting the shows, I'm sure many, many people before have said and tried that
  4. No, never sarcastic I am, nor cynical. My game is irony in a true romantic fashion!
I would have LOVED to see the original idea of 1 show "innocence," 1show "experience" in play.
But, alas, this is not what we see. And maybe the band didn't have enough time to prepare, maybe
they over estimated the amount of work, or maybe they just changed their minds - for such is the
    artist's perogative.

And, last but not least, the fact that we are having arguments back and forth only proves to me that we are dealing here with a phenomena that refuses objective measurement.

I could perhaps forgive the band for abandoning the idea after the injury and/or realising that some shows may not please everybody in attendance. But even the later idea of a fixed first half followed by a varying second half has yet to be seen. 18 fixed songs every single night out of a 23 song setlist is hardly variation. Even the songs that do get switched are predictable. I suppose the only positive so far is that in the very few spots that are rotational, we're now starting to get a few more songs to be rotated.

Apparently it was Sil who had a word with Bono and told him to play something new. Hopefully he and the band realise that they've fallen far too short of what we expect.

Agree 100% . What happened to the set variation ? All shows were to be in blocks of 2 , as in N1 and N2 would be different etc . At least thats what the band said or had us believe . Didn't Adam confirm this ?

So this was abandoned AFTER the shows went on sale ? Interesting . I bought tickets to 4 MSG gigs and 1 Boston show under the premise that the sets would be different .

I did not expect them to turn into Bruce , Pearl Jam or Dave Matthews Band , who play totally different sets each and every night . U2 have never had much setlist variation , but they did say this would be different .

Anyone know why or when this was changed up ?
  7. According to Willie Williams, it was this way up until rehearsals:

WW: We fully intended to have two different set lists and make it a pair of shows. This idea survived all the way to the beginning of the music rehearsals, at which point it became apparent that it wasn’t really viable. I really believe that they could have rehearsed enough songs for two shows, and I would have very much enjoyed being able to delve into the catalog, but the question of which songs would be left out of any given show became too big to get around. The potential upset that a punter buys a ticket for the “wrong” show, depending on their personal taste, began to make it a bit of a minefield.

I read something about that said they would not do that anymore for fear that they thought fans a show was better than the other, that some would be disappointed, something like that...
