  1. They didn't do any ID checking on any show yet, but I guess on these smaller shows they might.

I guess it really depends on the venue, and maybe there are different policies even at the same venue between dates or between different gates. For example, they could check ID against credit card for GAs and not do it for seats (assuming seats are paperless too), or maybe do it one day but not the day after... It's up to the venue really. I think they OFFICIALLY have to match but they're not checked really

At least they didn't check my or anyone's IDs when I saw Muse in Belfast (paperless for GA), and others reported the same for some of the US shwos I think.
Yeah, for some US shows (and I'm basing this off Interference posts), ID was only required if your card didn't work at the entrance and you had to collect your tickets from the box-office. For some shows, they pre-checked your ID while you were in the queue.
  3. We'll see when Glasgow happens, what the system will be like there. I can imagine ID won't be getting checked unless you get a complete jobsworth.

For Glasgow, it is only GA. Seats are ticketed.

I imagine a turnstile type system will be in place. Swipe card and go? Though surely some manual intervention wil be needed from staff? All very confusing.

Do these venues think we are normal fans or something???

They checked my ID card at Muse in Manchester (paperless tickets too), but only wanted to see it, didn't check it against my debit card.

Exactly the same, that's what I mean.

    Card swipe > OK?

    Then

    ID checking >
    -Under age? Fuck off.
    -OK? Get in.

(no check of ID against credit card number, so you can attend with your girlfriend/parents/whoever's card)
  8. The way it was achieved at the Barrowlands was that there was a barrier, and it took two members of staff before you got in: one with a machine to swipe your card which prints out your 'ticket', and another to take that ticket from you and allow entry.

At The Hydro, I'm wondering how that is going to be put into practise, considering even in ticketed shows, they have problems with letting people as all doors are sometimes not open. But if I remember correctly, gaining access to GA has three doors, so they'll probably barrier it off and have three members of staff at the door checking cards.

It's a silly idea yet a genius one too. You can't sell the tickets but no scalper will get one. I booked the first night on my mum's credit card (student has no monies at Christmas - i.e. me) and she now has to come with me because she doesn't want to risk me not getting in. Luckily she's happy to do so.
  9. U2.com also states valid ID, no mention of checking against creditcard:
"Instead of going to the venue's Box Office, you simply go direct to the door, present a valid photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) and swipe the credit card that was used to purchase entry to the event."

Swiping the credit card is checking the card, no?
  11. What I wanna know is where the U2start pints are being had after.
  12. Sure. But what I'm saying is, you could even bring your girlfriends creditcard, as long as you have your own photo ID.
