The Church is a deadly spot, would be a fair walk from 3Arena but probably one of the nicer places on the Northside. Lagoona Bar I've never been to, but the IFSC is on the way to the 3Arena from the City Centre so for people with seats it would be a nice spot to get a few pre-gig drinks in and get used to the atmosphere!

Can you recommend some good pubs? I know there are PLENTY of pubs in Dublin, but it would be easy to know the GOOD ones.
Pubs with reasonable prices, nice ambience, not to empty on a Monday or Tuesday evening (or are pubs in Dublin always crowded, even on regular week days?). U2-minded pubs would be great of course! (don't need to be U2 themed fan parties, but just some pubs were we can expect some U2-music).

And a second question: how about taxi fares during the evening? Our hotel is situated in Ballsbridge, It's less than 5km from Temple Bar district to our hotel (5km by car, walking distance would be 3,5km). Do you think taxi's in Dublin won't be that expensive for a short ride, or would it be better to spare that money for some extra pints that keep us warm during our late evening walk to the hotel?

(omg, my questions make it looks like I'm an alcoholic )

  5. What's the current situation with the U2 Wall and the Windmill Lane Studio's? Is there anything left and is it still worth a visit, or is everything already totally demolished?!

Well as treasure pointed out above Lagoona seems like a good spot to get into a U2 mood, although never been there myself. You're in a nice spot in Ballsbridge, but stay away from Temple Bar, its just a spot for publicans to squeeze tourists of their money. Visit the Trabant in the Hard Rock Cafe though

Pubs wont be empty midweek, but obviousky wont be as busy as a weekend. Reasonable prices are hard to come by, you're looking at anywhere from 4.60 to almost 6 euro per pint, with the odd exception of course. Places will do specials on pitchers or multiple bottles. The Living Room is a massive bar at the end of O'Connell St and would do decent prices. And The Central on O'Connell St also is a nice spot.

Taxi to Ballsbridge from City Centre would probably be around a tenner, but hopefully not more than fifteen euro, with the weather as it is at the moment you'll probably find that walking isnt too appealing. Sorry, I wouldn't know those kind of rates too accurately though.
