1. I could tell the songs, and if they were performing it decent, so I was happy.
  2. I dunno I reckon that's a good look for Bono, but people started ripping it off as they often do, like they often do with the glasses and people get sick of seeing it. I kinda meant the proper stetsons he and Edge wore in 87, they pulled the look off well back then. Probably wouldn't work now though I suppose.

They had 10 years playing together in the Lovetown tour, they were not some rookies. You listen to Unforgettable Fire in 1990-01-06 and then compare it to a 360 show. It's a whole different ballpark.
But whatever, anyone can have their own favorite version. I still think the 80's shows are wildly underrated.
It's not a case of them being rookies but the technology nowadays makes it easier for a song to sound better live. If you put bono's 87 vocals over the 360 music of Unforgettable Fire then we'd have our perfect live version. Same with one tree hill, the 80's shows are great in terms of the band are playing well and Bono is singing well but concerts have come a long way since then, even ultraviolet on zoo tv couldn't be played to the standard it was on 360 except again vocally.

I think it was the hair back then in 2005, he didn't wear a hat like that on the original JT tour I think.

I like the sound of Bono's voice more that it is now than it was in the 80's.
  6. I'm out
  7. He was a better singer back then, he could hit the notes better yes, but I like the sound more the way it is now.
  8. THIS! thank you, I thought I was the only one

To me the big difference between 80's shows and after is the hunger. They've always had the passion. They've always had the magic. They've always had the desire. And each and every show I've been to has been like church, but... seeing them 1st hand at every level of their career, clubs to stadiums there was just something about those 80's shows... I don't want to say they've lost the drive or the hunger... they're definitely just driving a little slower, napping more, and eating much better than those guys in the "Outside It's America" documentary.
  10. I think his voice nowadays is great for certain songs, he's probably a technically better singer now but with less of a range. If he had the same range as back in the 80's with his style of singing now I'd have to agree but he's just slightly limited now. I think he still has a great voice though.

IMO he has the most beautiful singing voice in the whole world.
