It's because of the times that U2 approach these sounds and textures. And I'm going to say this for one last time on here, be thankful that you have new music by them because this could be their final album.

People are just far too judgemental. Just because you're on a U2 forum and you go to several shows, it doesn't give you the right to condemn their new music and feel as if you should have a say in their creative process. They've surprised us numerous time, spoiled us many times and we're still gracious about the fact they can pour a lot of energy into live shows (see i+e). I found a lot of the selfish comments boring on here, I just skipped through the pages. It got too repetitive. I can appreciate people's opinions, accept them, whatever. You either love or hate it; but whatever your preference, don't try and force it down another one's throat just because their opinion contrasts yours.

I like the song, I like The Blackout. Little Things I can give or take, but we haven't seen these songs live yet. If you think differently, I totally accept that.
    AMEN

Thank you. (One of) the best comment(s) made today.

THIS! I'll never understand why people put so much energy into being so negative.

I get that it might not be everyone's cup of tea but the comments I read today really sucked. It was really hard to read, especially after having a really shitty day. The bickering back and forth is really quite sad and in my opinion very indicitive of how this forum has been in recent months...just like the rest of the Internet and the rest of the world.

I get that you want people to like the band and want to see positive comments, I really do but at the same time it's not a case of putting effort into being negative I think some people just are genuinly disappointed at times and they're allowed to be and they're allowed to express that. I still am although I'm letting the song grow on me. As for the bickering a lot of it has come from people who aren't willing to let others have a negative opinion and people feeling shot down because they've said they don't like the song.
  4. It's definitely a symptom of music as an art form that exists, in that fans think they're "owed" something.

Fans don't deserve nor are they owed anything. Only when they pay for a ticket at the price U2 charges do they deserve a good show.
  5. Kygo posted in FB a couple of hours ago that "new music is coming very soon "...coincidence ?
  6. I quite enjoyed The Blackout, but didn't connect with this song. I don't know... Something seems off about it to me... I think it sounds a bit flat... like the chorus doesn't elevate itself to the next level like we have come to expect like most U2 songs. I felt myself waiting for it to reach that spiritual plane where the energy and magic from U2 takes you to that higher place, but it just isn't there for me in this song.

Perhaps my expectations were too high? Perhaps I was expecting something else from what the song was? Perhaps it will grow on me?

I just hope the new album is as impressive as SOI as I thought that album was one of their best in years.

I'd consider comments like "I've listened to this x more times, still shit" putting effort into being negative. I'm also not juat referring to the discussion of this song. It's the entire forum in the last few months.
