    Conveying that meaning and emotion on a nightly basis would be virtually impossible, and that's fine. Keep it on the record, play the songs you want to play live. But don't try to create something new out of lightning in a bottle.
    Not to mention one "anniversary" album tour is an "event", two makes you the "nostalgia" act you said you never want to be.
  2. I'm still a bit shocked they did TJT30 tour . Whilst I enjoyed it , it just didn't seem them
  3. There was an underlying feeling during that tour of emptiness. They had no soul, no passion, I think it almost drained the life out of them. Great to see the full album live, but not the most moving performances.
  4. Personally I’m all for an AB30 tour, i think it’s over analysed regarding what it says about the band. Who cares it’s your favourite band playing arguably there best album, if they played some of the rarities from TJT on a regular tour show people would have been delighted yet put them all together on a tour and people complain. If u2 became a nostalgia act and did only these anniversary shows then I could understand or even more understandably if they only played greatest hits shows but surely in the space of a 40+ year career they’re allowed to do 2 anniversary tours of there 2 biggest albums in amongst regular tours which always feature a new album heavily. It doesn’t need to be your thing but if you can’t accept that then I think that’s terribly harsh on the band. I’m delighted with what we got last year and now there’s something new to look forward to, enjoy the best of both worlds.

  6. I just want to remember AB live as Zoo Tv , my favourite tour and music and era of the band .
    Same with Pop and the Popmart tour .

    When I saw it on the first leg in Chicago I got a bit of that vibe. It almost did not seem like U2 for me. I remarked to one of my U2 friends afterwards that it was the weirdest U2 show I had been to. But I saw them again on the third leg and they seemed to have the old energy back, at least somewhat. I think they were enjoying it a lot more on 2nd and 3rd legs but it definately did not have the same vibe as a normal tour.

    I have only seen them live once and I wasn't blown away by Streets. Granted, it was on the Joshua Tree 30 tour, where the song wasn't played in its best version and Edge's guitar had malfunctioned during Pride and he didn't start the song with the band, he was in the underworld when he started. Also, Bono's speech killed the intro

    I have this exact same experience. Chicago shows were dull and - pains me to say it, but, uninspired. Went to KCMO on the third leg and it was just like a normal U2 show, magical, religious experience, band was very passionate etc. And my seats were way the hell up in the nosebleeds for that one!

    I thought Chicago was rough too, definitely not their best. Louisville was great but I agree with the 2nd and 3rd leg for the band becoming more passionate.
  11. Yeh at times it felt like it was their job and they were at work and they didn't seem to be enjoying it, by the time it hit Europe it seemed a bit better
  12. I guess mileage varies, I saw an early TJT30 tour and thought the band sounded amazing from my absolutely terrible nosebleed seats. I was totally moved to hear the album in its entirety and their performance of "Bad" that night was magical. It felt to me like they were genuinely enjoying it but maybe my seats weren't good enough to tell.
