Experience and Innocence tour

  1. yeah the VIP clique is starting to grate a bit now
  2. Let’s be serious though... In the past 20 odd years or more of attending U2 gigs I have never walked out of a U2 show and been disappointed. Before a gig I have benn itching for certain songs but if they weren’t played it didn’t take anything away from the show. Acrobat should be played for the entirety of the tour in my opinion but some of the other rarities maybe not. The Troubles was excellent live but the casuals destroyed it in the USA from becoming a staple so let’s be realistic people. If we get only Acrobat we should be thankful. For me, an end to Mysterious Ways for this tour would be pretty awesome but that may just be me!!
  3. Out of 25 shows I only walked out early and disappointed once - Arnhem Holland during elevation tour , probably mostly due to our crap position at back of GA and a shocking venue in terms of acoustics and temperature.

Yeah, think that was probably the worst U2 gig ever. Should’ve mentioned that as the one off.
  5. This has to be the most Canadian thing I've heard:
The only vibrations that could be heard for most of the evening was the Zamboni machine cleaning the adjacent ice surfaces, leading to some fans singing “Zam-Bone-I” to the tune of “Volcano” while they waited.

    +1
  7. Yeah, though I stayed the whole show because of an excellent GA position, it was the worst venue ever. Got seriously hurt on my arm during the end of GA cueing!
  8. As long as they don't start bringing up half the audience on stage like on the I&E tour they can play anything they want.
  9. Have the bets already started whether Acrobat even lives through another week of rehearsals?
(If they play it and if it survives even the EU start - I forgive them SOE. If they again drop it and instead present another Pride-BD-WOWY-driven Best Of....they can only save themselves with something POP.)

Instead, they stay sharp by gigging very regularly. I'm not comparing a tribute band to U2, but surely there's certain songs that U2 shouldn't need to rehearse? Unless it's to sync with the A/V aspect of the live show, they'd be better spending the time on less familiar / newer material.

I think its generally because of the reason you suggested plus the use of new tech and gear, and well they're not getting any younger to keep it all memorised. Plus with the exception of I+E / TJT30 / E+I there's usually some significant downtime between each tour so they probably do get at least a little bit rusty.

Did you hear the old story about them having to send a runner out to go out and buy their own back catalog during a tour rehearsal so they could remember their own songs? I think that was quite awhile back before tech is where its at today, maybe Zoo TV or Popmart. And judging by how often the warhorses get rehearsed down the years I would wager there is truth in that.

My bet is they drop it right before my show in Atlanta.
