Yes, ZooTV and Popmart had the same static setlists, but you always had something to look for as the show progressed. There was always how Edge was going to do the solo of LIB, how Bono was getting his groove on Discotheque, Please was always a highlight, you never knew what shenanigans MacPhisto was going to do... the songs were just stronger.
If they play the same Tulsa setlist night after night, at least we will have Wild Horses and LIBTAIIW to look for on the encore, or ABOY as a rarity in the first part.
    Now we don't have anything.
Yeah, well, I guess the perspective is a little different from the floor where American Soul takes you by surprise and for someone who looks forward to Acrobat and thinks Best Thing and GOOYOW are lovely and comforting songs. But this is all personal taste and hard to argue about.

However, my two main points still are: one, that a show is designed & played for the audience in the building and, two, that this U2 show is more like a play - or theater, if you like - that wants to make its attendents think and feel uncomfortable things.
In short: it is not mere entertainment, it is also Art (and thus not necessarily "nice").

Honestly, i'm with you, but you really have to take into consideration how old they are by now. My mom is in their age, her body is totally fucked. The difference is, she really had to work her whole life. No one in this group, knows what it means to work your ass of every day, but their age will have a toll anyways. Maybe it shows by now?

three - which could fit into your one, actually... most of the audience in the building has no clue what they played the night before in the town before, so as far as they are concerned, they are getting an original set of tunes... and those in the building that have been to every other show on tour obviously don't care about the repetitive set...
  4. I have 1 GA ticket for May 23 Wed show to sell. Please message ASAP if interested. I work close to the United Center and can meet in West Loop or at stadium before show.

If the stones did another six songs they'd probably change another couple each night as well plus then they would be clocking in over two and a half hours on stage and let's not forget they need to use their bus passes to get home for their late night cocoa.

    always happy to help.

I still say the stones are not an interesting live act anymore. Even if we take into account the one or 2 lesser known songs they played and that is the extent of it then they don’t tour albums anymore and haven’t done so for years. As I said the other day comparing the stones just now to u2 just now probably isn’t fair but even if we go back to a time the stones were at the same age as u2 are now they were doing greatest hits sets. It’s boring to me, I understand if people like that but if people are going to suggest the stones are doing a better job of things I have to argue the point. I do like the stones but having seen them once live that’s more than enough for me. Would have loved to see them in there peak though.

That's fine, but i saw U2 in their prime. Now, they are miles away from that. I don't blame them, but it's still a fact. At least to me. There is no energy anymore, they just play down their set, that's it. I could drive to Berlin in about one and a half hour, but i wont, i can't stand this old daddy rock show. I don't wont to see a musical, at least, not from U2.

Hehe... what do you consider their prime? (I'm only asking because I saw your age)
  9. To me it was Popmart, it was a Monster of a show, after that, they tried too hard to be Radio worthy. To me, everything after POP was just softened stuff, for the masses. And they never came back.

Please, forgive me my bad english. I'm german, and i know my grammar is horrible.

Well that’s a different subject, I would say the band aren’t at the level they were during there prime which to me was zoo tv. I wouldn’t say they were miles away either but I was only a year or 2 old wine zoo tv was happening so I don’t know first hand. All I know is when I see the band live I have an amazing time always, I’ve not seen a lot of shows per tour but I have seen them at least once on every tour since elevation and last year was as good as any for me. Why? Because when I seen them at least the band played songs I thought I’d never see and to a good standard. I think I look more at the technical performance rather than the energy you talk about. I’m not dismissing you’re point the band probably don’t play with the same energy but that’s not what I pay attention to. I just want them not to make mistakes and to play songs I like. Sometimes I think the song selection could be better but overall they always play enough new songs and rarities that I’ve been happy.
  11. If you go to a show and you didn't like it, your criticism about THAT show is valid.
If you go to two shows and you didn't like them, your criticism about those two shows is valid.
If you listened to a show in a stream, well, the show was not even for you.

It's like going to a birthday party and then you start complaining about the presents the birthday person is receiving... you don't have to like them, those are not for you!
The day of your birthday, if you don't like your presents, yes, please complain all you want to, but when the presents are not for you, you look ridiculous complaining!
