Football has come home. It came home the minute you had an amazing night in a pub full of people you thought you never would hang around with. The moment you use an England game to see long lost mates. The moment it made you fall in love with the World Cup again. And I am telling you, the England national team has restored some pride. In a time where the politics have gone to shit, the Government falling apart, Gareth Southgate has united the country.

It was never about winning it, in fact until we got into the semi final no one realistically thought we were going to win it. Even if we got into the final, there was no chance we would have beaten France. But it would have been the first time the whole country would have seen their country in a World Cup Final.

Emotions were running high last night, and quite frankly some of the comments from the moderators here are embarrassing, but thats Football. You learn to win and you learn to lose. For the good times you need to accept the bad times. Walking out of the pub last night onto the streets will be something I'll never forget. No scenes of singing and dancing. Just grown men crying, completely shocked at what they've seen.

I always thought Iceland was the lowest point in Football, but it was last night. Im not saying this because they've let me down or they were bad etc but because we were so close to achieving a dream I thought I would never see - and now probably still wont ever see. I'm not afraid to admit I cried my eyes out in the streets last night, obviously I had friends putting arms around me but what hit me the most was random strangers coming up to me, hugging me, some of them not even saying a single word, they just know. That is how Football came home.

Its currently 12:15 in the afternoon and I've cried multiple times already. You look at the posts from Rashford and Walker on Twitter, you look at the picture of Southgate hugging his wife, you see the players crying on the pitch, you see Kyle Walker publicly stating that he loves England. It all hits hard. I dont think I can bring myself to watch another game from this World Cup, including that pointless 3rd vs 4th Play off game. We didn't understate Croatia, their hole midfield is better than ours.

    Cheers man. I'll try!
  6. Fair play to you SJKamal. You’ve got a lot to be proud of when reflecting on the teams effort this year. They gave it there all.
  7. Hahaha my bad! ?

    Cheers girl! I'll try!

    This. What a summer.
  9. That sums it up SJKamal. Gareth Southgate's demeanour this WC was inspirational. The European teams have played well. Roll on the Euros, hopefully Ireland can qualify.

The nations league and the euro championships may be a different thing though. But the next world cup is a lottery in Qatar it will be survival of the ones with the biggest oxygen tent.

I still laugh at the WC in Qatar... one of the hottest places on the planet. Wonder how much old Sepp pocketed off that one...
