Originally posted by EthanD:The Madonna show is in theaters and apparently VERY expensive. Would have no effect on a U2 tour. I'm fairly sure it's only the state of Queensland that has a public holiday tomorrow, not that it would matter - a day off work gives people even more time to scroll their phones and see a tour announcement.

I somewhat think the same but I can understand why U2/Live Nations might want to delay the announcement until after the election. The election is currently dominating the media's attention at the moment, if they announce it now they would probably get less attention focused on them compared to after the election. There seems to be no harm in waiting until after the election while doing it before carries the small risk of less media attention, so ultimately it makes sense to wait.

Hopefully that is the reasoning behind the delay, as it would indicate everything is all tied up and ready to go.
For some reason though I think it's the Asian gigs that are holding up the announcement. Everything for Aus and NZ seem to be set from the rumours so far, Asian gigs less so.
