Joshua Tree Tour 2019
Legs (1): New Zealand, Australia and Asia
Shows: 15
  1. Can't believe I missed out on the first tour in 2017 and now it's just too far away and can't afford to travel Enjoy the shows everyone and hopefully live streams or U2gigs will be covering the tour!
  2. So which cities do you guys think will get a second show?

I think we're comfortable to say that Adelaide and Singapore will be a one-night-only each.

It's pretty much certain that Sydney and Melbourne will get second shows, given the populations of both cities.

Are we looking at Auckland and Brisbane each getting only one show this time?

Personally, I hope Auckland gets a second show. I have a negative feeling about the general sale, and I'm gonna use Auckland as my back-up city in case Singapore doesn't work out.
  3. You really think Seoul will get a second show? We can't even gauge the band's popularity in Korea. That part of Asia is uncharted territory for them.

It's kind of odd that Brisbane is very likely to get only one show. But with the band going to Adelaide, I guess it shuts down any chance of a second Brisbane show from happening.

I forgot to mention Perth. I'm guessing Perth will be the third Aussie city to get only one show.

Is there still a large enough demand in WA after 9 years?
  4. Surprisingly, Perth was the highest selling Aussie city for 360. Selling more tickets than either Sydney or Melbourne. Brisbane sold the fewest tickets.

Though I guess that might have been at the height of the mining boom (maybe not, as 360 was not long after the GFC), when there was lots of money in Perth. Plus Perth's Optus Stadium has the largest capacity of any venue this time around (& the largest field).

So who knows if there's enough demand for a second show.

Seoul is a pretty small venue just like Japan so they have two dates penciled in for both.
  6. What I'm thinking...
Sydney is likely to get a second show, though I'm not sure how well it will sell.
Melbourne is less likely as it's a larger venue and I believe we will see that ticket demand is not as high as previous tours.
Brisbane, being a smaller venue, will sell out. Perth and Adelaide will not.

Let's not catch up forget that for 360 Perth had 13 years of built up demand, whereas the other cities had only 4 years.
  8. Seems to be a lot of pessimism around ticket sales from everyone? There are no indicators that shows are going to sell badly at this point?

True. 9 years this time. I'm praying demand is pretty good for the entire tour. I want them to come back again!
