hope i'll enjoy this forum as much as you all seem to do!

well, i've got to say that i like so much all the u2 albums that is almost impossible to choose my favorite... my i agree that joshua tree is awesome!

and like one of the members of the band said one time, it's their first flawless album!!

    Hi, welcome on U2Start !

And you like you (and Bono i think..) said, it was the first album without faults, but i think Achtung Baby is their second without faults... That's why most people find Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby the best album...
For the rest : i can't agree more then with LikeASong. You've said it all

  2. It's impossible to choose. JT has the best album opening of any album I believe; the first three songs. AB has fewer top-class songs but is more consistent.

It changes from day to day, but U2 will never be able to top these albums again.

For me it's possible to choose!
My favourite one (as you can see from my own profile) is The Joshua Tree.
Anyway I think that, as you zooTV4all say, these two albums are different: JT has more top-class songs than AB; JT's atmosphere is of a kind, while AB's one is completely different; in the contents JT looks more like an introspective album, while AB is a more energic album;...
So here is my suggestion: why don't we consider JT and AB as two great albums that have reached the top in two different ways? So why don't we stop making polls between these two albums?
I think they both are the top. Nothing else to say.

  4. great quote, i totally agree!!

But I really think that we need to stop with that discution...both are great...the best albuns of U2!!

    see you!!

Glad that there's a different opinion!
Anyway I suggested to stop making discussions about JT vs AB just because it seems they are the favourite two albums among fans. But it can't be a rule that they are the best. Keep loving YOUR OWN favourite albums!

  10. POP people!!

They kinda re-recorded POP (bits of it on the 1990-2000 CD) which was excellent, get it it you don't but I really thought ones like Staring At The Sun sounded pretty cool. There's no way you can remix MOFO, it is a sick song and nothing tops it live OR studio.

Miami could be re-recorded, so it doesn't sound so industrialised. But playing that at top volume with bass up full sounds awesome.

It's not easy to get an album right up there with Thriller or Sgt Peppers but Joshua Tree did. I'd be inclined to say it's their best work right after Unforgettable Fire. How many of us here like Streets, Mysterious Ways or even good old Acrobat? And to be still played with quite a few tracks even on current tours it must be good (you don't see that with POP or Zooropa except for The First Time).

Fantastic albums, and too hard to say which is better, because they're both bloody awesome. And if you hear some of the demos from Joshua Tree it's quite amazing what the album comes from - almost nothing. I must admit however that even the Achtung Baby tapes showed what an amazing album it was gonna be.

I still can't believe Eno tried to destroy the master tape of Streets! What was the guy thinking???
