  1. Don't trust U2.com for anything, not even the lyrics They probably just copied them from another internet site when they were building up the section, for sure.

    "eyes in A moon of blindness" (not "in THE" ) makes a lot of sense to me. It means a dark night, wihout a full moon to light your way. And he couldn't write "night" since he had already said "all the riches in the night", and repeating night in two consecutive verses is pretty dumb.

    1) Firstly I am interested in what everyone thought about the vertigo tour. To me it was perhaps the weakest tour so far despite all the great lighting etc. The audience seems to be getting less energetic. Perhaps it might be because most u2 fans are quite old (sorry to say that, but you know what I mean, they are an old band and there are people who have been fans of theirs since the beginning. I know the majority of people who post on here are quite young). Also it might have something to do with the band being less energetic on stage themselves i.e. old. Footage from previous tours seem packed with energy including the elevation tour, which wasn't that long ago. Having said that, it may have had something to do with the songs on HTDAAB. Would you say they are less energetic and jump up and down material?

    2) I created a post once about adam clayton; does he sing or not? despite him sometimes having a mic in front of him. Someone said that he did sing but the mic wasn't switched on or plugged in. That got me thinking.... there are some live songs where Bono plays or appears to play the guitar. On some songs you can hear his strumming if you listen closely, but are there times when Bono's guitar isn't plugged into the amp?

    P.S Could you also tell me general sites where you can download free bootlegs. I know of the 101guitar one.

    seemingly every tour that i spend a month or so with is the best tour, except for pop, there is not enough energy and variety throughout that comes accross for me. That said, i think vertigo might be the high mark for the band musically, they seem tighter and thus even more willing to stretch out on most of the songs from night to night. currently i'm listening to all the elevation shows where they played Sweetest thing, and it sounds like a rocking tour, lots of great shows, it was being considerd for my favorite tour, but alas the variety of vertigo can't be surpassed. So for me, zoo is legendary, but as far as bootlegs, i go with vertigo, and drop in a JT or LT just to hear Bono be able to sing the old songs as they were created = to blow your minds. alsofor a site i got to D&P bootlegtunzworld

    Ok, from a couple of listens, he's definitely singing "eyes in a moon of blindness".

    I always thought that it was not very good poetry on Bono's part (or perhaps a recording flub to sing "moon of blindness" instead of "room of blindness" but actually now that I think about it it makes sense as he's not referring to the physical "Moon" but actually using the word as a synonym for a lunar month or similar period, which fits in with the context of the line.

    This is maybe the first time in all this years that we come to a reasonable agreement. I like it.
  11. The majority of the U2 fanbase are 80s fans. Most adult U2 fans I know knew the U2 of the Unforgettable Fire era or the Joshua Tree/LoveTown era. Heck, my parents were not impressed with the ZooTV/PopMart period. When I saw U23D at IMAX with my family for the first and only time, my father said he "didn't get" The Fly when I thought it was freaking bad ass.

    I've been a fan since 1983 and I love the 90s output more than any other era. I think there's more to taste than age.
