    Sound

Originally posted by DanRight, first and foremost let me make a recommendation. Do not, repeat do not listen to this show through a cassette adapter in your car from your iPod. I did this and could barely listen; sucked, a lot.

So I gave it another go whilst walking the dogs with my Sennheisers - bloody fantastic by comparison.

This wasn't a 5 star recording as it was originally listed by any means, and was changed to 3.5 after all the reviews were in. No bass, poor drums and fuzzy occasionally. It was very difficult to perceive the crowd also, probably due to the size of the arena, but it was a shame not to be able to hear 150000 screaming Italians very much

    Performance

This was a popular show with reviewers. Everyone found something to enjoy, and it is a solid concert performance all round. Certainly shows the Popmart naysayers how wrong they are.
    Highlights:-

EBTTRT - "Ciao Reggio. Viva Italia...., viva Popmart, ... viva..... Bono!" B-Man on top form
    Mofo - very good:-

I get chills every time I hear "Pop Muzik" on a bootleg, especially that part where the vocals drop out and it's just the drum loop playing that high-hat heavy dance beat. When the crowd realizes for the first time that the band is walking to the stage from the back of the stadium and let out that primal shrill, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. This is what going to a Popmart show was about. Absolutely my favorite part of every Popmart bootleg.

"Mofo" sounded exceptional on this bootleg. I don't know if it's my new Sennheiser CX300s or what, but this particular mix blew me away. I heard every single detail of the looped drumbeat like I've never heard before, especially at the part right when Edge holds those high notes (2:25 into the song). Amazing.

"Discotheque", "WOWY", "HMTMKMKM" - excellent performances; great encore really, especially:-
"One" - very good performance. None of the extended guitar from early ZooTV, but everything else. And a special 'A Capella' bit where all but Bono and the huge crowd drop away. Fantastic
"Please/Streets" - as normal this was amazing.
    Rare Popmart outing for "MLK"
Bono's voice was generally very good, especially compared to the next show (Sarajevo)

    Poor bits:-

LNOE dragged and generally didn't meet with favour.
I didn't like the karoake, but others seemed to think it was a bit of fun.
    Otherwise, nothing.

    Overall

Good listen. Just listen to it in the right circumstances - decent headphones preferably.
There are better (Leeds, Santiago, Mexico, Sarajevo), but this is a solid, recommended 3.5 star listen

I'm still stubborn and haven't gotten anything to play lossless. I'll be reviewing the mp3s, but not on headphones.

Yep...I'm gonna review the DVD-rip tho...not the best quality, so I'll base it more on the performance.

  10. Uh, Dan... I reviewed Reggio PopMart as well. Though I seem conspicuously absent from your summary. Keeping in mind that I was the one who picked that darn gig.

    Sorry for being rude...

the summaries aren't meant to be a summary of each individual review. Dan takes a look at the whole lot and jumble them together into one post. Several others didn't get singled out in the summary either.
