I’ll take Gerard’s advice…I didn’t get to listen to this boot completely, just a few songs, I’m going to comment on those only…hope to do more next time!! >>

Vertigo (1st one): Good to hear a show starting with something other than COBL, not necessarily better (I think COBL was a better show opener) but it’s still a change from the very few other vertigo tour performances I had heard. And I must I enjoyed how Bono starts it “Larry Mullen Jr….” and the “Oh, oh oh!”, it makes it sound cooler  (Don’t like the echo in Hello Hello tho!). The rest of it is fine, Bono sounds right and so does the music.

Beautiful Day: As I said, it’s fun to hear a different setlist, but really, Vertigo going to Elevation sounded better than it going to Beautiful Day, it’s a kind of an out of place cool down after the fast vertigo. Again the performance of the song is great IMO, Bono does it just fine (Good to hear the original “See the…” part after a long time, he usually changes it depending on location!). Nearer to the end, Bono’s voice, as much as I can hear starts to get f**ked up again, it starts going rough.

The Electric Co. : What I said about Bono’s voice shows itself a bit more during this one (And I hate how Bono starts this “…of my rage… still like a rotten cage” -If I hear the lyrics right!!- thing at 3:00, it should be started with more energy)

Elevation: I enjoyed this one, I’ve always liked Elevation on Vertigo Tour, how they let the people sing with them in the beginning, and in this particular bootleg it’s been captured very well, specially the “wooho” part in the beginning.

NYD is just fine, and pretty well done, totally enjoyed.

COBL: As I said it’s better to be an opener, the weird way it starts isn’t good for mid show, but other than that, the performance is great!

Miracle Drug: Good speech (Wonder how many times larry checked the watch ). Nate, Edge does seem off in the beginning, and later I think it’s Bono too, they can’t get to each other and it just gets you confused!

Pride: It’s amazing till the end, I just don’t like how it turns to the speech (I don’t like it on any of the shows!), and I think Bono fucks up the speech! He says “African Dream” too soon…that’s the punch line!!

Streets: As I said I don’t really like the speech and the fact that he is saying the same stuff every night make me like it less, but let’s face it, if I were to hear just this night and not know he would say the same stuff on other shows, I would enjoy it, he does it with a lot of energy on this show. No way I would enjoy the African chant thing tho!

Party Girl (the first song of the show I listened to, couldn't wait!!): I know, Bono doesn’t remember the lyrics, but just to hear them do this out of nowhere is cool, and Bono gets hilarious when he can’t remember the stuff! I like it the way it is, with forgotten lyrics and everything!

Will hopefully give you more for the next one

thanks for adiing your opinions Ali. Much better than writing nothing but don't ever worry if you havn't got the time to listen to a show. No problem at all. This is a casual affair.

BTW The part in The Electri Co. is 'like a rat in a cage' and not a rotten cage

Yep; he's quoting a snippet from "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins.

Nice little report Ali. Just reclinerman left.

    OW MY GOD!

Now I see why it didn't make much sense
  7. I'm off for the night. I'll pick up here tomorrow. If you're deciding on a boot tonight, please bare in mind my suggestion on the previous page.

    See you
  8. Bye Dan!

    Good nite Dan

Yeah, sorry about that. I've been downloading all the shows I've been wanting to download before the day of reckoning (Rapidshare Restructure). So I've been really focused on that. By the way... you all can PM me if you have any other cool shows you want me to download.

    Anyway...

    Moderator’s Notes:

    2005-06-12 - Gelsenkirchen, Germany - Arena AufSchalke

    General Jots:

--Both performances of Vertigo just owned. It's the brother to I Will Follow.
--The Electric Co., in my opinion, is better on the Vertigo Tour than any of the other tours. This was no exception. Awesome.
--No yell during New Year's Day? What's up with that?!
--City of Blinding Lights is an amazing song live, though I hate it in the middle of the set, it's a better show opener. I hope on their next tour, it's an encore opener. (By the way, it's the brother to Streets)
--The trinity of pain (aka Love and Peace or Else, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Bullet the Blue Sky) rocked also.
--Streets and One are always holy songs in any show, as well as a chance to proclaim their love for each other. I love you, Adam Clayton!
--Zoo Station & The Fly, same opinion as The Electric Co. although it varies more.
--Yay! My Sweet Lord! Peace George Harrison.
--I don't know the lyrics to Party Girl either, Bono!

    Final Thoughts:

It's nice to hear a good audience bootleg of this tour. I want to hear more of them. Peace from Gelsenkirchen.

Also, I love your thorough reviews. It's more than I do. I tend to focus more on performance.

Well, enough of my riffing. germcevoy, take it away. You get to pick the next show.
  11. I shall post the show this evening. Glad this first round went smoothly
