    1989-10-16 - Melbourne, Australia - National Tennis Centre

    General Jots:

    --Hawkmoon was so awesome. I wish they would play that more.
    --Desire continues the awesome.
    --All Along the Watchtower has the final verse this time. Neat.
    --Bullet was raw and rough, in both the good and bad way.
    --A lot more talking than usual, i.e. Running to Stand Still/I Will Follow.
    --Streets was holy, duh, and love the Heartland snippet.
    --Taping was screwed up during All I Want Is You & Pride, dang it!
    --Bring on the B.B. King Orchestra - People Get Ready & Angel of Harlem were fun.
    --B.B. King owned his section with them.
    --New Year's Day & Party Girl rocked.

    Final Thoughts:

    This show was a bad intro for me into the Lovetown tour and for one reason... THE SOUND! This recording was made on cheap cassettes and it shows. After listening to the UF Chicago bootleg, which sound better even though it's older, it shows that even cassettes can sound better than this.

    The show was pretty awesome, though. But the sound...

    Slightly harsh evaluation of the sound there I thought. If you want good sounding LoveTown then grab any of the Point or Rotterdam shows. I thinki'm gonna try and aquirethe lossless of this show. I bet it sounds way better.

    I have sensitive ears (which is weird, because I continually blast them in). So I can't stand recordings that just grind into my poor eardrums. This show did, and it distracted me a lot from enjoying the bootleg.

    By the way, I have the Point Depot and Rotterdam shows, I just have never listened to them.

  6. One thing that I have noticed about the bootleg round table is that I'm usually one of the last ones to post. I'm okay with that, because usually I agree with everything that everyone has already said, but this week there doesn't seem to be general agreement with the audio quality. Some thought it was great, others thought it was terrible. Personally, I'm siding more with the "terrible" people than the "great" people. I personally found the audio really bad and distracting, which really made it hard for me to enjoy the show.

    Random notes:
    Edge's guitar in "Streets" was barely audible. What a shame.
    Heartland? Really?! Oh...just speaking the lyrics over the Streets intro....oh well.
    Bono arguably does the worst impression of George Bush I've ever heard. Bono may be a bit of a renaissance man, but he should steer clear of trying to pull off the Texas accent.
  7. We seem to be missing reviews still from Nate (who let us know he was held up) and U2Starter (I've pm'd him). I'll hold off on a full review of the Lovetown boot until I know whether these are coming in.

    I forgot to mention in my review about Running and the extra line in NYD (maybe the time is right) that most of the rest of you covered. Glad, as they were feckin awesome
