1. Lots of good opinions here

    # I agree with the person who said Desire should be played electrically more.

    # I was surprised so many people admitted that certain songs need to be played less live, felt like I was walking on thin ice, lol. I'm a big U2 fan but some songs just erm dissapoint me (is that the right word). Perhaps I should listen to these songs less.

    # more song rotation, I agree with you, because to me when you here New Years Day, Untill the end of the world is more than likely to follow, or vice versa- a little predictable. Same with Bullet the Blue Sky and Sunday Bloody Sunday.

    # Im sure U2 themselves get bored of singing and playing the same songs. They probably would like to play songs that they don't play all that often, but feel a little reluctant to do that because there are so many fans that just know the classic songs and they buy tickets to hear these songs performed live.

Still i would pay good money to see them do an intermate/low key live gig, where there is no coherence in the set lst (so that you dont know what to expect) and where the big reguarly played songs have been kept out. So we are treated to songs like Zooropa, ground beneath her feet, she's a mystery to me, promenade, sort of homecoming, unforgettable fire etc.

Also include electrical storm. They have performed it in rehersals haven't they?
  2. My personal opinion is to not drop anyone of these songs. I can't accept a concert without any of them!
Anyway I agree some song should be played in a different way than the latest years, such as Bullet The Blue Sky (I don't like the Vertigo Tour's snippets) and One (gotta get more emotional - work to be done especially by Bono).

  3. Definately bring back Gloria, a great tune...and i agree that Pride was better during the UF tour - listening to versions of that song and hearing the crowd at the end with the 'oh ohh ohh's is amazing though, keep playing! One tree hill id like to see too, a true gem from the joshua tree. all in all thought, ive always been rather happy with the bootleg setlists

    Anyway:

Bullet the Blue Sky (at first I didn't like the song that much, but since I SAW the song played during concerts: DO NOT DROP)

Sunday Bloody Sunday (Depending on how they will emebed it in a new tour, it was cool in the Vertigo Tour...UNSURE)

New Years Day (I don't know, I usually skip this song when I listen to bootleg recordings. Nonetheless it's a great live song, but yeah, they can DROP it)

Untill the End of the World (NO!!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!!!)

Where the Streets have No Name (A classic even if some ppl say it's overplayed. DO NOT DROP)

One (Although it's a classic and really really awesome live, they could leave it out at times)

With or Without You (Nope, no, no no! DO NOT DROP)

    agree totally
  5. i reckon Bullet should be dropped.... i really don't know how it's been a staple for sooooo long....

SBS should be played occasionally and as a real surprise for the audience...

One ahould be dropped... completely sick of hearing it... was brilliant on the elevation tour but i believe it was a bit weak on the vertigo...

as for pride and new year's day i think they should be completely dropped from the next tour... just give them a rest for a bit... maybe played occasionally...

streets is the best U2 song ever!!! should be played every night!!!!!!

edit: Oh!! and with or without you should be played at every show too!!! as an encore only!!! can't see it up the order... it should be played in the Vertigo style... really loved larry's drumming that was missing from the elevation shows...
  6. Sunday Bloody Sunday can be dropped here and there (a 60% of the concerts, so when they play it is a small "surprise" for the audience).
    The same for Bullet.
WOWY can also be dropped here and theere without any problem, so when they play it, it is more "emotional". And PLEASE take back the Shine Like Stars snippet.
Streets is probably in their Top 5 of the songs live. It's a really rock song. Don't drop t, but please take back the flash!!!
One is the problem. Here in Spain, the version with Mary J Blidge has stayed in the top of the lists for almost one year. And many, many people who didn't know U2 has been hooked by them (many of my friends have borrowed all my U2 albums, for example). So when the next concert arrives, many people will request One to be in the setlist. So, we, the old fans, are really tired of it. But they, the new fans, want it to be played. What will the band do?

I'm tired of some songs, of course. But a concert without PRIDE and I WILL FOLLOW is inconceivable for me. Period.

  9. I'm completely sick of Pride, not that they play it every night but... IT'S THE SAME F****** THING SINCE 1985!! Not a new or variation solo, not a single delay/distortion/whatever effect change, not snippets, anything! I even thing that if you cut Adam, Edge, Larry and Bono's ears, they will still play this song without a problem, even with the "oh ohhh oh" of the crowd.

Bullet the Blue Sky is almost played every night at every tour, but it doesn't make me sick because every tour is different, you if you listen to a different tour bootleg each day, you'll get sick of Pride much earlier than Bullet. I love the quiet solo of the Vertigo Tour, is like the calm after the storm, suit perfectly with Bono walking blind around the stage and it allows our great guitar player to make some little improvisations or variations. I think the Elevation solo was a bit overproduced somehow.

    So in short:

    - I think they should do something about Pride, as it's almost forbidden that they drop it.

    - I love Bullet, I'd keep it as long as they still play it in an original way or doing something original with the show. They still didn't fail to do it so I still like it .

    - Sunday Bloody Sunday was great when a war or something is going on(like the Coexist thing), otherwise they should save it.

    - Until The End Of The World is a mind-blowing experience live, so "Not tonight it' not, NO WAY!" LOL.

    - I still love New Year's Day, especially after the previous song, but they can give it a break sometimes, yep.

    - One, hmmm... it somewhat needs to be played for not die-hard U2 fans, it hasn't been changed with the years but it's not as repetitive as Pride so I don't mind if it is still played.

    - Beautiful Day, sometimes I'm tired of it, but it's the same thing as One.

    - I Will Follow, they don't play it that often anyway, and it rocks, so I'd definitely keep it.

    - Desire should definetly return to Lovetown versions, these last one suck.

    - Elevation should take a break and be replaced by Vertigo.

    - With or Without You is a classic, but I think it could take a break sometimes, and I agree that Shine Like Stars is a must(i'd also follow it with Love Will Tear Us Apart).

    - Bad should be played every night, no exception. It's unfair to go to a U2 concert and not see it played, I suffered it .

    - The same with Where The Streets Have No Name, with the exception that they did play it of course, lol.

    - I want Gone, Last Night On Earth, Please and Staring at the Sun to come back, the last one in full electric band. But unfortunately I think my dreams won't come true, I don't see why they bashed Pop on the last tour .

    - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For is good as it is, I'd definitely want it to be played the night I attend, it's kind of my song.

The list could go on... but I probably bored you already.

Not necessarily. I think instead of 'Early morning', it's 'Early evening' or something like that. One song I want to hear MORE is "40" and for god sake, play New Year's Day the way it was in the 80s with the fast intro, not the slowish one. I'd also love to hear Love Is Blindness - the full version again. As well as MLK - I think that's a beautiful song.

Bad should be played EVERY night. It's one of their defining songs.

I actually like One more on this tour with the Africa theme, it really mixes in well. But I have to laugh when people say it's played to their partner as a love song....it's about breaking up!!! With or Without You should be played lots more as should Until The End of The World, it sounded awesome during the 4th leg of the Vertigo tour.

Absolutely agree here. Although I'm not very fan of Vertigo' versions of the songs, the solo of Bullet was different and it fantastically fit with the moment of the show.
  12. My summary is:

I don't mind songs dropped or brought back, i only want Bono's voice to come back. Period.
