Can anyone shed some light on this, or direct me to where it was already discussed?

There's actually footage out there of The Edge trying out that guitar in NY. I have it on a DVD. It was on YouTube but was later deleted for copyright reasons, so I was told. He did buy it in NY during the Elevation tour.

I've not seen Edge use the Jag live. He's got the lake placid blue AND a white one too. You can see it i(amongst other guitas) in a piccy from the studio on page 296 of U2 Show (book)

The pic from Hanover Quay was from a Vertigo BBC promo show, if memory serves.

It'd be cool to see Edge use the Jaguar and even a Jazzmaster, as they both have unique characteristics in tone. But they are both notorious for having intonation issues... well, more 'staying' in tune issues. Hence, Stratocasters being a bit more 'collectible' than the Jazzmaster or Jaguar.

  3. Anyone know how much Edge's Gibson went for at the Music Rising auction yesterday?

Yeah, the clip is still on Youtube somewhere...he goes to a coupla shops with the interviewer and Dallas. I asked because I'm becoming more and more intrigued by the Jaguar, and I am planning on getting a new guitar sometime soon. Thanks for your help!

It didn't. The Auction is in progress at this moment. They are about 80-100 items away from the U2 items.

Jags are nice. I like Jazzmaster more. The Pickups are great. I saw Johnny Marr playing with Modest Mouse (opening for REM at the Hollywood Bowl)... Johnny Marr was using a Jazzmaster or Jaguar for most of the tunes
  7. So like I said... the pics I posted earlier are not fantastic. Good and nice to have. I will go take more tomorrow. I will remember to use the flash so that ALL the pictures show up!

None of the pics I took of the SRV or Clapton guitars came out - plus tons more of Edge's LP.

So, yeah... I will go take more tomorrow.

Yeah he's been using Jaguars and Jazzmasters with Modest Mouse, he gets a great sound out of them.

He talks about his Jaguar and some other guitars and amps here, pretty good interview.

Thanks for posting the Johnny Marr interview link. Cool interview, great guitar player.
  10. Some random questions,

    1. You got pictures of any other guitars that were on display?
    2. Since Dallas bought Jimmy Page's guitar at the auction, think Edge will get to use it?
    3. I recently watched the alternate video to Beautiful Day. Which of his Les Pauls is that? Also what kind of guitar is Daniel Lanois playing? (there aren't many good shots of it, although he can clearly be seen playing and singing)

I'm pretty sure that is his Until The End of the World guitar. I remember in some interview Dallas was talking about it and he said Edge has used it for a lot of recording.

I think Danny is playing Edge's Gibson ES-330, which hasn't really been used since ZOO TV for One (although he did use it for Holy Joe at the POPMART press event back in '97).
