    Yep, that looks pretty accurate from what I've seen on Rush.com

    Garrison is a Canadian company. Lifeson has always been a supporter of Canadian guitar and gear companies. He used "Signature" (brand) guitars during the mid-1980's. Decent guitar but once they went out of business...

    It was around that time that that Lifeson found PRS guitars.

    Recently he's commented that the PRS with dual rectifier amps has become an all too common sound, this being one reason he's gone away from that tone.

    The Howard Roberts fusion looks like a hollow body Les Paul. If you've the "Exit... Stage Left" DVD, that is the one he used for Tom Sawyer, around that time.

    The only other thing that's on my mind at the moment is Electric Co. - I'm just trying to get the effects right, wondering what input you might have (assuming it's a song you play now and then).     EDIT - I'm more thinking Vertigo than pre-Vertigo (if you wanna call it that), because they sound vaguely different...

    EDIT 2 - I think I've semi-cracked it, although I'm still interested to hear your suggestions and ideas sir! I was watching Chicago last night trying to get the delay right (Vertigo versions seem to be approx. 30ms rather than the 28ms on previous versions)...and I think I've also made a personal breakthrough in discovering the added benefits of changin the EQ lol...



    While the DVD for "Red Rocks" isn't out yet, the VHS has been out for ages. Used copies can be had very cheap.

    Ya see... you get some stompboxes... In lieu of that...

    Overdrive through the whole song. A bit of boost in the solo. Delay wise, you should set a dotted 8th note delay at around 150 ms. The delay in the intro section seems louder than in the solo section and it might be a different time setting too... I will have to investigate a bit more. I do think that 150ms is a good starting point.

    I think he's using the neck pickup but going to the bridge pickup for the solo but I need to confirm that. I will have to consult some pictures and video to be sure.

    correction: I think the delay is to be at 225ms not 150ms

    No worries. Just hold out for the DVD, as it should be out in the stores by the end of August.

    Especially among more recent Canadian bands. 3 Doors Down, Nickelback, 3 Days Grace, and Theory of a Deadman, all use them nowadays.

    Uno) You any idea how Edge gets the UTEOTW tone per chance? Compression, drive etc. but I'm wondering whether there's something else?

    Duo) The Tele. he uses for Vertigo, what kinda pickup does that have? I mean, is it an uber single or a weird humbucker? I'm guessing it's what Teles have, but I'm just intrigued due to my ignorance lol...

    Trés) Regarding LPs, what's the difference between Custom, Standard and Studio models?

    He had the `59 by some time in 1969, if memory serves. I will check my books when I get home. I am pretty sure the 1959 and 1958 both came into Page's hands around the same time, the `58 being the backup to the `59.

    This also makes sense as Jimmy would have crossed paths with Joe when Joe Walsh was in The James Gang.

    JOE WALSH... A good friend to have! Not only did he give Jimmy Page the Les Paul but he traded a Gretsch Chet Atkins to PETE TOWNSHEND for an ARP Synth. The Gretsch in questiong being THE sound of "Who's Next" and "Quadraphenia" albums. "Baby O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again"... were the Gretsch.

    1.) The overdrive sound for "Until The End Of The World" appears to be the Boss OD-2 overdrive. The Boss OD-2r will also get you close. The OD-2 has a bit of a compressed sound; more so than a Boss SD-1 (the OD-2 and SD-1 were both in Edge's ZOO gear)

    2.) The Vertigo Tele, by all acounts is a great sounding but stock 1966 Fender Telecaster.

    I know that many of the Edge's guitars have had the pickups re-wound. This might be the case but I've yet to hear it confirmed, about the Tele in question.

    3.) Les Paul models:

    Joe Walsh didn't like the shaved neck and it's one of the reasons he got rid of the guitar. Jimmy loved the shaved neck and had the 1958's neck altered when he obtained it as a backup.

    Whether or not Joe sold it to Jimmy or gave it to Jimmy has been argued equally. Even if Jimmy did buy it, he got a great return on his investment.

    ALSO...
    If memory serves... Edge did begin using the Sobbat Drivebreaker for the solo on Until The End Of The World around the time of the Elevation tour and again on the Vertigo tour.
