The only suggestion I would make (and I really hope this doesn't come across as me sounding like a total asshole) is that during the solo when you make it all the way down the neck and you're on the lowest of notes, Edge plucks the open A string every once in a while. It really fills out that part nicely. Listen carefully for it on live versions and you'll see what I mean.

    Hahaha.....I would, but my former boss emailed me directly, so I've really got to sort it out. Since I'm still unemployed, I don't think I can keep it. I've got a working Dell laptop, so I guess I'll just have to use that.

    I suppose I'll ask my buddy over at the Apple Store to see how much it's worth, and if I should hold onto it or not. It really is beautiful though....

    Nah, I'm all for constructive criticism/help! I thought he hit an open string but was never sure which one, and I didn't want to try and find out halfway through the recording because up to that point I thought it had gone quite well and I didn't want to balls up lol!

    My main "annoyance" is that, obviously, singles sound different to humbuckers, so I try to compensate with a fair bit of compression and gain, but I think I need to cut down on the gain a bit, 'cause I felt it made the riff a bit indistinct...

    I didn't think the distortion was too overpowering....maybe just a TAD heavy, but I've heard a lot of different variations on the song, so I wouldn't sweat it. Much better than any attempt I have on tape! (damn me running out of tape and not realizing it!)

    It's cool to hear your opinion mate, for sure - I was trying to replicate the Elevation tour version (despite the different key - the backing track I used was in Gb, the Elevation tour version is in G) because a) my favourite version is the Slane DVD (HANDS DOWN, epic performance) and b) because I think Edge nailed the song on that tour tone-wise; perfect level of distortion so it's not blurring stuff out but it's got that oomph, whereas the ZooTV versions are great, but a bit more fuzzy to my lugs, and the Vertigo Tour had no way NEAR enough - the delay was too clear for me. PopMart performances lie somewhere in between Elevation and ZooTV for me
