That's right. Or those who help with others problems, which can also be fun. I think people are always going to find problems with hardware and software and of course, being miniature computers they aren't perfect. No product is perfect.

Batteries blow up, computers break down (even Macs and Linux), washing machines stuff up...it's all part and parcel of electronics. In the eight years I've worked with electronic parts from really old computers that were only capable of running Windows 95 (a long time back) computers and electronics will, and do stuff up.

  3. Will see about it after reading the manual.
BTW, is it coincidence that the screenshot used in Rockbox's page in wikipedia is an ipod playing 'Streets' (the screenshot posted above in drew's post) ?

Yea, had seen Surface before, when Bill Gates was introducing it, and it was pretty cool...tho it's not that similar to iPhone!
So...is this a real project? I thought it was just showing off, thought they would never sell these stuff! IF it is going to be released...any release date info?

What others are worth considering and not overly expensive or shitty - and might last a few years?

I have apple iPod with 4GB...I would reccomend you that
  6. Alright...a bit off topic, but have to say this...I'm totally in love with Rockbox! Great stuff, and I just watched the clip for Hands That Built America on my 1st gen iPod nano, which in spite of the small screen, is still very cool!

  8. iPod is the only way to go I think- can't be beaten for interface, practicality, sleek look.........there's also a variety to choose from.

That's what I'm talking about! If you install Rockbox as the firmware you can then watch videos! It will be completely done by software, whereas the new iPods have hardware for video playback. But it plays smoothly and fine!

Well, it's good to know it worked. Did you check out the themes at the Rockbox site? I quite like the desert one I had.
