    Strangely enough, it hasn't frozen or broken. It's playing through iTunes right about now. It plays videos alright but seems to stutter with video downloaded from places that use a different frame rate (24 or 29.997fps) compared to Australia (25fps only). Not enough to really notice heavily but enough to see.

    The sound is pretty good, haven't really noticed any hissing. And I got rid of the crappy white earplugs straight away because they're horrible. The next question is, whose idea was it to split up the menu into two sections? It looks totally weird. Is there any way to change it?

    Other than that, I think Apple's got a winner on their hands.

    About the split screen. Theres no option yet available to turn it off. It's got to slow the menus and navigation down. I think the hissing is my headphones. They are Senheiser CX300'S. Listen to MLK or the start of Bad and tell me how much hiss you get.

    Mine froze yesterday for 6 hours (had to wait for the battery to die). I pulled out the cable before hitting the 'eject' button. How annoying. I'll try another set of earphones sometime but otherthan that, it's pretty flawless. We in the EU have the annoying volume limit aswell so I can't unleash full volume eiher.

    Must be my ear phones. Which headphones are you using?

    It froze solid with the backlight on and it wouldn't respond to nothing at al. Took 6-7 hours for the battery to give up. Pissed as hell I wasl
  6. As you'd be pissed off with it. I'm using Sony earphones here, not sure what model.

    OK I wrote to Apple, hopefully they can sort something out!

    theres been plenty of complaints about it on apples own discussion boards so hopefully something will come of it. The screensaver with the time and the battery meter (which gives a different battery reading than the main one does) is very annoying. You can't just glance down and see whats playing, you have to hit something.

    That's annoying too. Why the hell did Apple think people would like that effect of screensavers and split-screens??? What a crap idea.

    I figure if enough people send complaints about how crap it is then they may just release firmware to fix it. I couldn't care less about any other firmware updates but that'd I'd be so rapt with.

    There's a reason when I build new computers and install Linux or Windows on top I switch the screensavers and fancy effects off. They kill the processor and memory if not a lot is in there.

    No more! Split-screen no more! Screensaver no more.
  11. OK I guess split-screen is alright for the moment.

    But why doesn't coverflow work? I've added artwork to the songs and still no go. They'll just come up black - any way to improve this with new firmware?
