1. Check out this article here.

Are you reinstalling the original OS on it when you wipe it or just leaving it blank? You've gotta make sure you follow the article.

I bought a computer system once (I think it was an IBM server, this huge black monster of a tower), and it had all the old tax records, phone numbers, old emails; some of which weren't too family-friendly, bank account details and photos of the Christmas work function. She obviously forgot to get rid of her personal stuff.

We had great fun passing all that stuff on to her friends, and sending emails to her workmates

Funny you should say you're upgrading. I'm moving to Mac, which one would do the best job for gaming? Top one is nice, can you have a custom pattern?

  2. Thanks Drew. Perfect.

I'm going to reinstall the OS as I'm hoping a friend will buy it from me. But if not it will likely be an Internet auction.

LOL to the Macs there. If you're serious, which one are you going for?
  3. I like the bottom one. Seriously, I'd like to get a MacBook Pro (a black one to match my other iPod stuff) with Final Cut Pro and GarageBand.

And here's my latest iPod touch interface...it just goes to show what you can do with a real imagination (bottom one is Bono-approved).

  4. Saw and heard Out of Control from Slane on a Harman Kordon sounds system at a friend of mine. And it was bloody impressive..! I even bet Gerard's Bose is inferior to this kind of stuff. Crystal clear sound.
  5. Has anyone bothered updating to the recent 2.1 software for the iPod touch? It messed up some stuff real good.

    - now album text sizes are bigger than my index finger
    - genius thinks up some weird things that make no sense
    - it's slower than the other firmwares
    - it's harder to modify

    What was Apple thinking?

    its also suppoedly in hd

    any help would be great!

VOB uses MPEG2 audio, which WAV is different to. Quite possibly imToo couldn't handle the bit rate at which the audio was originally encoded. Also being in HD could be another problem where imToo cannot handle that kind of audio bit rate - I'd say it'd be pretty high. Try using DVD Decrypter and see if you get the same results.

Was the original audio soundtrack distorted?

Save yourself the 245MB update and get a couple of bootlegs instead. It's worse than 2.0. Sure, I got an app store and a Genius feature, but that wasn't worth the one-hour download to me. I can make an intelligent playlist - I know what sounds like what - and the apps I want aren't on there anyway and never will be. I know I certainly can't get Firefox on it from the App Store. And the sync times were worse - it took 35 minutes to sync 750 songs, whereas back on 2.0.2 they took around 20 minutes. A 15-minute difference is all the difference.

It's almost as bad as the original classic firmware updates!

  9. Thank you! What's funny is how the sound is NOT distorted on the video copy I have on my copy. I used DVD Shrink to make it one file, then converted it using MMMPSP Max Media Manager. Typical MP4 quality, wondering if I can better too. The sound on the MP4 video is not distorted, which is what I find so humourous. Hopefully with what you've shown me it will help! Thanks a ton!

EDIT: It worked! Thanks dude! Instead of using Goldwave to edit it up I'm using Audacity. : )

I thought you meant there was another upgrade.....I did notice it goes very slow now. Not cool.

By the way, regarding those pix, how did you do that to your iPod? I think it's awesome!
  10. Ok, so I've encountered another problem....apparently when Audacity saves the files as, in my case, wav, it rounds up to the next second, creating silence at the end of the track. With the concert I'm editing to create tracks, there are silences which ruin the performance a bit. Are there any preferences where this silence at the end can be removed so it will not be present next time I save a file?

I've had that a couple of times too. It's real annoying, it just happens sometimes. If you just manually remove the silence again with Audacity it's gone though. I always open a file I just edited and saved in audacity one more time to see if there isn't any silence at the end. It never seems to happen again after you remove it, so one time seems to be enough.

True, although I don't understand why the program does that. Anyway I did end up using Goldwave, not as easy to use as Audacity, but I think it's better.
