  1. Seems I missed one..lol. Why do you prefer the 300 then? I assume you paid more for these CX500? Although the price doesn't say anything about the quality though...

  4. iPod problems again...
    Guys, I have this iPod nano 3G, it worked fine before, but I haven't used it for some time, almost 5 months...now when I connect it, iTunes does open up automatically, but it does not recognize any connected device. I do not have the iPod software installed to restore the ipod from there, and haven't been able to find the software on Apple's site...I found this place:

    which has the firmwares for download, but it's .ipsw file apparently opened by iTunes (has an itunes icon), I'm dowonloading it right now (58mb takes some time on 128kbps, 1hour to go), but am not sure about it, because iTunes does not recognize the iPod, if it opens a new firmware installation file, where the hell is it gonna install it?!

    Any help?
  5. I'd say on the iPod it installs. Pretty much all you do is double-click that .ipsw file, iTunes verifies the .ipsw, extracts the .com files inside and then starts installing the operating system for you. Make sure it is for the 3G nano you got from the website - I get all my firmwares from that site.

    You could try holding the Menu and Centre button together until the iPod restarts. When that happens and you see the Apple logo, immediately hold the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons and choose Manual > Disk Mode. You might have to play around with it for a good few times to force it into that.

    Either that or plug it in, leave it alone for a good 12 hours and see what happens. Usually the battery after five months does run out. If you can't get it to do anything, can you get Apple to do something with it?

    I did try the disk mode and double clicking stuff, but still it's not recognized. The iPod itself does work, it's just not recognized by iTunes. I'm using this little piece of software right now: http://www.poddox.com/ , seems to work

    Looks like it can do the job for now. But why it doesn't show up in iTunes is a mystery...You know what? I'm just trying things for you - I've never used a nano, ever. Every other iPod I've used, so this is just pure guesswork.

    OK...here's something else. It sounds dangerous but this guy says it can be done. And down the page seems to be more solutions and ideas which you can try. If in all honesty it has failed, take it back to where you got it or call Apple and see what they can do.

  10. Think i'm gonna try a Samsung NC10 netnook. Looks good, well specced, not too expensive, big hard-drive. Lack of DVD burner is a vummer but how else could they keep weight and price down? And an external one will only cost a few quid. I'll also prefer the familiarity of XP over linux.

    Okay, will do! That's great that they will block out a lot of the outside noise, often I listen to it in the car.

    I was looking at the headphones on the Apple website a few days ago, and there was a headphone with the volume control, and a sound recorder (mainly for voice memos, etc.). But they cost $79, a bit much for a pair of headphones in my opinion.
  12. Drew, that poddox thing didn't work. I followed the link and formatted and it's now fine, iTunes recognized it but said you need to restore, so I'm getting the software now
