Not a fan (I know you don't like touchscreen)?

its not the phone itself. Its the people who buy th phone. The people who pay £300 to get themselves roped into a terrible rip-off contract just to have the phone. I saw people outside the O2 store jumping and screaming and taking photos of themselves with their iphones. Fuck I wanted to melt a phone into each of their chests. Sad sad sad.

About the phone. . it's ok, uglier than it should be (why doesn't it look more like the touch?). Pretty interface but average other than that.

Exactly why I've got the Touch and not bothered with the iPhone. £35 minimum per month for 18 months and they give you shit minutes and texts, far less than you'd get on any other contract for that much money.

Apart from the obvious (ie being a phone ) I can't really see what it offers above the Touch either. Crappy camera? No thanks. Google maps, GPS and stock options? whoopy fucking do. Everything else I can do and it looks nicer.

I think I can probably handle having a phone and an iPod on me, have done for the last 4 years.

Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely product and when it's 2nd or 3rd Gen and they've opened up the options a bit plus increased the memory and dropped the price (not to mention the O2 contract) then I'll be interested. But not before.
  5. another thing that annoyed me is that the upgrade is 99% going to be released in January. 18 month contract for the upgrade to be released in 2 months? No thanks

Do you think they'll stage that though? USA first then us later down the line. If they do a complete upgrade across the board that'll piss a whole shedload of people off.
  7. Probably when the battery exploded something went into his back and shattered his spine.

But the official, who spoke anonymously, said such a fatal explosion would be virtually impossible.

That's not true. LG, Sony, Lenovo (IBM) and Dell were recalling half a million Lithium-Ion batteries due to fire and risk of explosions. And iPods/iPhones use the same batteries as well.

Not if LG were recalling half a million Lithium-Ion batteries due to fire and risk of exploding it's not virtually impossible. Lithium-Ion is the same battery type the iPod and other electronics use as well, and still they made the mistake of using them for keeping the iPod small and lots of battery life.

They should have used Nickel-Cadmium batteries.

As long as mine doesn't blow up and melt to my face then i'll not worry. Would be nice to see some different battery technology though.
  9. Nickel-Cadmium is the way to go. It's actually cheaper (benefit to Apple) and smaller.

I also think the battery in my old iPod might have caused problems. I looked just below at where the battery sits and it was corroded out.

    That's horrendous.

I'm not putting my iPod in my trouser pocket from now on if you know what I mean...
  11. This is the only case that didn't instantly make me vomit on the UK Apple store for the iTouch:-

Is that the best they can come up with? I know it will protect it, whcih is good, but you losse all the visual impact (and thinness) which is pretty horrendous
  12. Update on the exploding phone that killed that dude.

    IT WAS A HOAX
