1. ow my God, I love this thing
Actually, I wished I could find anything other than the iPhone that would be as good. Because these days everyone has an iPhone here, there is no unique-ness to it. But the Hero...looks good, has the same abilities + better camera and better looks and maybe other stuff I don't know yet. And it's an Android Thanks for pointing it out Gerard. I'll have a better look at it and see if it really is as good as it sounds. What do you think Drew?
And by the way, it's price here is half iPhone's price

I think if you like and want something better and less restricted the Hero is the way to go. I was considering getting one originally but it wasn't out in Australia when I was up for buying a new phone, so hell go for it and enjoy it I say.

Speaking of which I might just get one if Three have them.
  3. What about the N900 or HTC HD2?

Thinking of getting one of those myself.

  4. The HD2 is Windows apparently, Hero is Android, and I'm done with Nokia, tho these are my preferences, nothing wrong with the phones...
  5. HD2 is the first phone that will get a Windows 7 update in the future and the Nokia N900 runs on Maemo (based on Debian linux).

But its a personal thing Hero is a good choice as well

Yep. Didn't know about the Debian thing on Nokia, that could end up well. I'm not so keen on Windows Mobile tho. It's not that good on the laptop, I can't imagine how much better it can get on a phone.

I had an ipod touch for a lot of months and the only thing I miss is a game or 2 (and it wont be long before they pop up on Android anyway). It's just a solid phone running a platform that is great already but has so much more potential. Also runs on multiple devices rather than just the one like iPhone, but I do recommend the hero because of HTC's highly customizable Sense UI.

  8. I'm skipping the N900. It's a guniea pig device. Within 6 months we will have the first Maemo 6 device with capacitive screen and multi touch etc. The N900 is a developer tool and for uber tech fiddlers. Right up your street.

    So...Android or Maemo?

Well the N900 was also announced in the summer, wouldnt surprise me if the next one wont be in stores before next year.

But your right it is a guinea pig device

Well Maemo only runs on 1 device, android on more.
Android is a bit more mature as a platform, while Maemo is more a 'standard' linux environment. You have a terminal, you have root access. Apt-get, repositories, ssh, etc. But it is a guinea pig,
