HD ready has 720 lines of resolution whereas Full HD runs at 1080 lines of resolution. At 37 inches, the difference between HD Ready and Full HD is going to be barely noticable so unless you are into your games consoles (specifically PS3 and XBOX 360) then you should go for a HD Ready TV at 32-37 inches. You should get one at a very fair price too.

no blue-rays or games consoles over here, just plain tv and regular dvds. So HD Ready it will be then thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge, Gerard, much appreciated same goes for you, Ali, thanks for your input

HD ready is spot on then. And cheaper. Do pick up an upscaling dvd player though. It will blow up your dvd's to make them fit the high resolution of the screen. Almost makes your standard DVD's appear to be HD.
  3. Gerard, another question...
Is the Market the only way of installing new apps on the Hero? Because Google limits Iran sometimes on what they can download, for example, we can't download Google Earth for the PC. I don't know if the Market will work here.

fair point. Because I have use of the Market i'll have to research other alternatives

  5. I saw some cracked apps options, but they require you to first install a file manager, then you download the apps you want to your PC, connect the phone and copy the app file to any folder you like, then on the phone, open that folder with the file manager and open the app and from there it all works fine, just install and use. But for this I will need the file manager to be installed!

Which can be found on the market lol Wel get you one

  7. funny loop indeed you guys are great I'll fix it somehow when the time comes...
  8. Did some research in persian mobile forums, and apparently the market does not work in iran due to the same stuff.

Anyone...tho Drew might be more pro in these stuff...I know ways to go to internet pages anonymously, or in ways to make the website think I'm connecting from another company. But is there a way to make my whole connection like that?
I mean somehow make the internet connection being put on the Wi-Fi be with some other ip, even temporarily, so that for example when I connect with the Hero and try to access Market, it thinks I am connecting from some other country.
I do that on the PC and when browsing the internet, by installing software that do that. But obviously I can't install that software on the Hero, that's why I want the connection to be like that, what's on the Wi-Fi to be like that. Any ideas? Is it possible?
  9. Dont know if it is possible, but setting a proxy on the phone may work. If that doesnt work a VPN connection possibly will. But I dont know if that is possible on Android.

Another possibility is creating an wireless ad-hoc network on your pc, set the proxy there and connect with the phone to the created adhoc network.

All this is theory Gerard may know more about how to configure the phone to do this.

Umm...the stuff you said are what I had in mind, tho I have only heard names, have no idea what they are and how they are done. I guess the phone can just connect to the Wi-Fi connection available here, nothing else. I'll have to change the wi-fi to be like that. That is, somehow get the connection from the router to my pc, do some magic in there to change the ip and whatever else is necessary, and send the new different-ip connection on the wireless antenna! ....help!!!
  11. Im sure it is possible to bypass the 'firewall' And the thing i just explained probably needs some tweaking, but if the android can connect to VPN networks or use proxies than it will be a lot easier

It probably can, but the question is: does it work out of the box ?
  12. Guys, I know I've taken over this topic with my whole "new mobile" process...it's just that things are always very confusing here in Iran, as you can see I have to consider many more factors when getting a new phone and it can be really confusing at times. I'm sorry!
Alright, I just needed to say that, cause I feel guilty having had the last few pages about helping me!

I did some more research in Persian forums, and they have a solution for the apps thing which is what I said before, a new way for installing the file manager, and from there, you just copy whatever new app you want to the card and open it with the file manager.

But my question still stands, because not all Android apps are available online outside the market...the changing ip thing...any help would be appreciated.
