Perhaps the single funniest thing I've ever read on these forums.

"Willie, turn off the house lights! Willie! Turn off the...what? What? Oh. Sir...sir, in the front row...can you put your iPod Touch down please? And take it off the steroids, please. Thank you."

Hahahahaha!!! They've opened themselves to ridicule with this device. You'd think something like this would work independently without a computer...it doesn't.

  2. Guys, some more mobile phone help?
In about a month, I want to get a new mobile phone for my girlfriend. I wanted to know your opinion about new models that would be good for girls.
Right now, she has the SE W980:

I want something like that, a good phone technology-wise, not too big, not looking like it's made for men.
I don't want stuff like this:

    ,not small pink phones.
She likes SE phones, and is not a fan of big touchscreens. Any help would be very welcome!! Thanks
  3. From experience with four of them, LG phones were terribly unreliable and I'd never buy another one. Although Nokia is coming close to that as well.

I'd be having a look at the SE ones if that's what she likes.
  4. Well maybe a woman can shed some light on the design. But as for the brands: they are all decent. Some have problems with SE, others with LG, nokia etc. Sony Ericsson would be a safe choice if she hasn't any issues with here current phone

I like nokia, but most models look like they are made for men. I know the E71/E72 is popular under the women at my university. But I think that model is not what you are looking for.

Does she want a sliding model, clamshell, etc?
  5. Looking at the photo I'd stick to the one she's got - it looks great!!
  6. Drew, I know about LG. Actually she likes SE the most. Hates LG Motorola and Samsung.

Emm...she doesn't know, if I find a model that I'm absolutely sure about, it will stay a surprise, but if I can't find one, I'll either try to get it from her indirectly, or just let her know my intentions and have her choose. She likes her phone to be small and capable. Not some small shit that can't do anything. And I already got her an iTouch, so she doesn't want an iPhone or any touchscreen for that matter.
I was hoping for one of the girls to help me here, but I guess they just don't check this topic!

Yep, it's a wonderful phone, and she really loves it, but the LCD on the front has broken and you can imagine how upsetting that is, everytime you look at the great phone, there is a black circle on the front LCD.
  7. Isnt there a new model of SE from the same serie?

Got my N900 today. Amazing, amazing device. MSN, skype, etc integrates perfectly with your contacts and 'conversations'.

Mediaplayer is amazing, i just installed FLAC support and it plays Apple lossless as well. Also you dont need WMP to sync your device. Just copy the files to the drive and it will be picked up automatically. I am using a foobar2000 plugin for this.

The videoplayer is pretty good with common xvid files, although there is some frameskipping during complex scenes.

The browser is pretty cool as well. Its a firefox port, the addon dialog is exactly the same and its actually possible to install Adblock Plus and other addons.

I know Android and iPhone OS have more apps at the moment, but its incredible what already is available: Bittorrent clients, other mediaplayers, official firefox, remote control software and even AbiWord.

Games are a bit weak at the moment. Although there are some nice games available.

What operating system does it have?

  9. Maemo 5. Basically Linux. Massively open source and highly hackable
  10. Yes, its running Maemo 5 Its a heavy phone though, heavier than the N95 i had. Will need to buy an extra battery because using the fun stuff kills the battery.
  11. Ali / that's a shame about the LCD. I'll see what SE phones are kicking around here.

  12. Thanks a lot Dan
And Chris, congrats on the new phone!
